They’re effectively built wrong, and this video will explain why. It’s a very basic explanation by former Private server developer who was at the time building his own server game engine.
I think this is a good video to watch if you’re interested in just how much better actual Classic WoW will be.
Old news, we already know that private servers are just an emulation of vanilla wow, using the information available to them. They simply made do by making it as closes as they could get it.
It is an argument that will be solved here in a few months.
I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that private servers have made a real attempt at being “blizzlike”. For what it is worth, they seem to have done a good job considering this is hobby development.
However, the only servers that will be the authentic game can only come from Blizzard.
ROFL, I guess some people freak out over the morality of software ownership and usage that’s a lot different than what the lawyers like folks to believe.
What they don’t seem to understand is IP does not equal the physical copy you purchased; you’re not merely renting it. This is why I really don’t give a darn over the private server’s existence.
I can’t fault them for trying, and I do think what they did build is really damn cool, and only a fool would claim they had nothing to do with where we are right now with actual Classic WoW on the way.
So while they’re built entirely different from the real thing, I cant help but be thankful for all the work they did to build something that does a nice job of looking and acting kinda like original Vanilla.
Oh I agree. Pirate servers are the reason blizzard is having to do classic to protect their IP. It’s a win for all of us, especially since they were so reluctant to do it in the first place
I’m ok with people trying to make tutorials to help people get started if they’ve never played, but I agree with you when it comes to them bragging about their 1 minute boss kills.
