Private Server Advantage

So how much of a real thing is it and do you think it will make Classic unbalanced?

I don’t even understand the logic behind the question. How can a private server ā€œunbalanceā€ or give someone else an advantage in Classic?

If you mean by knowing the fastest leveling routes, raids, etc - people have played the game before, there are guides, etc. I can level pretty much blindfolded I’ve done it so much Vanilla through Cata. New players in ANY game will always be at a disadvantage to veterans until the new player learns the ropes.

That’s pretty much any game.

Just play and enjoy.

If you are worried about it, you could find a guild that comes from private servers and apply there to reap the benefits of their info mining and practice.

not really, some of the pserver streamers are saying it’s different already from there experience. However, quests, professions, and class knowledge will be better to an extent.

They will be pretty spread out though. P-servers are international, Blizzard servers are regional. Some servers will likely see some tight-knit guilds comprising of primarily p-server people, who move their whole guild over to Classic.

Thing is, they are also used to burn through the content quickly, and then leave for the next newly opened p-server. Classic will be a different tempo. Whether that will mean anything, we’ll have to see I guess.

Game knowledge is unbalanced?

Pretty much this. By the time the Loremaster achievement had come out, I found that I didn’t have a whole lot of work to do on my Shaman to unlock it. I’ve done all the quests and remember how to batch them for efficiency - When you don’t rely on ā€˜quest helper’ addons, you gain the benefit of learning and retaining all the knowledge you need to plow through this game.

I’d say just doing each quest yourself is a bigger advantage than any ā€˜refresher’ a private server would provide. I pointed out in a thread about Tips making the claim that ā€˜private servers give an advantage’ that Tips himself is clueless AF in the Classic beta so I find the whole idea laughable.

Plus we have information on quests for classic all over the place on the internet as well as leveling builds and quest routes for classes also. So no, it’s not unbalanced. That’s just ignorance is bliss.

There has been quite a few pserver streamers that say things feel very different and the meta will always be changing as people find new things and try out things that havent been tried before.

People that have played on a pserver will have a ā€˜better’ feel for the game as it will no doubt be similar but a good player is a good player, one of the nice things about the longer leveling is it gives you ample time to learn how to play your class and get comfortable with how it feels and what does what, from there you are on your own when it comes to researching things.

There is no (or very little) hidden info on classes and how to play them, if you get comfortable with your class and do a bit of research there is no reason you can’t perform at a high level if you choose to.

There is also nothing wrong with discovering things on your own if you want, I applaud people that want to do no research and go head first into Classic knowing nothing, I am kinda jealous of people who get to experience this for the first time and have the guts to fly in blind just like so many of us did years and years ago.

None, because they didn’t have default patches and the code, just the base of the game. So a lot of things like spawns, itemization wasn’t working correctly. I have never played on a wow priv server but I have tried it with other games, and it’s never like their retail counter parts. They are going to code to best suit their needs and practices. Most have admitted its already very different.

That and everything you need to know about the game already exists out there.

If you’re concerned about it then go play a private server.
