Should Blizzard allow websites access to our alts?
There are tons of websites and tools out there that allow players to find alts, some of these websites have been around for a long while, such as wowprogress.com, which, if I am not mistaken was the old guildox.com website. There are other websites, like check-pvp.fr that give a good and fairly accurate list of alts, many times it will even show alts of very low level characters. Characters as low as level 10 can have their alts seen on check-pvp.fr. If I am not mistaken raider.io at least has an option to hide alts. While I don’t think it’s a HUGE issue I do think it’s kind of crappy. There are many other websites out there, those were just a few used as examples.
Since Blizzard is taking a harsher stance on harassment I believe they should do something about this.

I think most things are opt-in to show alts rather than opt-out to not show them.
That said, I don’t care either way. I got nothin’ to hide.
edit: More to the topic: I guess? If people want that.

I’ve never understood the obsession some people have with stalking other players. Stalkers absolutely loved tools to see people’s alts like cogshanks however, non-stalkers didn’t care.

No absolutely not. This Is a perfect way to creep ville.

Not gonna lie, I liked cogshanks when I was the recruiter for a guild. It was good to be able to see if someone was being a jerk/trolling on the forums as that would not be the type of person I would want to recruit.
If that makes me a stalker, I suppose I am ok with that moniker.

Couldn’t care less, but then again all my alts are in the same 4 guilds with variations on the same name and all have a potato in their name.

I forgot about that one. That’s an oldie but goodie too.

For myself, I don’t care. All my characters are in the same guilds
However, there are crazy stalkers out there, so people should be allowed to hide their alts if they want on any website.
I always like catching people liking and/or having a conversation with themselves on the forum.
Other than that, don’t really see the point.

That just sounds sad, lmao

My short time on the forum again recently has shown me a large handful of players who swap alts during conversations to pile up on another poster. It’s kind of funny, especially when you call them out.

Yeah I think the only thing I ever said on an alt that didn’t age well was call bs on covid. What can I say, early on it felt like just another Sars.
You dont own your characters, why would you want to hide any of them?
What do you gain from it?
Owning them has nothing to do with not wanting others to see them.
Check pvp also has an option to hide alts if you make an account and connect it to your bnet email
And no i think its fine, i wish forums had those alt checks built in tbh
Why would you want others to not see them?

guildox doesn’t exist any longer. Hasn’t since Legion I believe… maybe BFA
Yeah, super easy to do too. Got this guy just yesterday:
If you look at the profile of all those characters, each one has the same battle pet configuration. Takes two seconds to find out, not sure why people bother.

Who cares if people know your alts. Are you trying to hide something?

Probably something something don’t use my lack of relevant experience on a topic to dismiss my opinion or suggestion
