Hi, I’m just wondering if there’s a way in WoW Classic to enable some sort of privacy mode where I can stop players from seeing if I’m online so they can’t whisper me? I’m not looking to disable the whisper function in chat settings, but to basically hide myself from players who aren’t my friends. Thanks!

There’s the option in battlenet…if you don’t want someone knowing you’re online…I’ll give you a hint for in game though…go log into an alt that NOONE knows about. There’s your truest form of anonymity you’ll get in the game.

You know this is a Massively Multiplayer Online game right? By its very nature you interact with strangers over the internet.
You can’t stop people from adding you as a friend or whispering to you. But you don’t have to respond or even read what they say.

There’s no way to block yourself from a /who in game. If other players are :bothering you" then stop antagonizing them. I guarantee that except for gold sellers no one is searching for you in game if they aren’t on your friends list.

That doesn’t mean you have to be rude. All you have to say is “yes” or “no” to a yes or no question. You’re now derailing my thread, so I think it’d be best if you just gave it rest and moved on.

Are you trying to avoid specific people or just everyone not on your friends list?

It’s impossible…they’re gonna have to create a character from scratch that noone knows about
Guessing you are not talking about someone on your friend list but randoms doing a /who or whatever the command is to see current players in the zone. No I dont believe you can hide in that case. I heard there might be an addon that can hide whispers from non friends, but its 2nd hand hearsay and dont know of one first hand.

Thats kinda what I was asking about. It really sounds like there is a specific sitiation and advice is being asked for without giving the details which would allow for more helpful and informed advice.
It’s a MMO. If you don’t like being visible in the game, perhaps you should reconsider this genre. Tried Borderlands?

It sounds like the OP wants a server that is private to her and her friends. I heard that those things may exist somewhere other than here.
