Does anyone remember the drop rate for pristine hide of the beast?

Yes, and yes. I have this memory of being amazingly lucky and seeing it drop on the second time I skinned the Beast. However, I didn’t actually have a use for it. And I wouldn’t be surprised if this entire memory is false; I am only certain I did actually see it drop, at some point.

I ran UBRS every day back in vanilla. I don’t ever remember seeing it drop much if at all. Could be that we didn’t have a skinner that could. I do remember one of our hunters looking for finkles. I imagine its not a very common drop.
I got Finkle’s Skinner at level 56. I couldn’t even use it yet, but I was the only skinner on the run (I got dragged along by friends because I had mana tide so I was useful anyway. PS - Yes, my spec was terrible for leveling.)
I think I saw a pristine hide once, maybe twice, in all of Vanilla, and the beast was skinned every time I ran UBRS other than that first time. (I didn’t run UBRS super often though. Maybe an average once a week?)

I skinned it once in many runs. It has to be less than 5% chance of skinning.
Only for 3 things.
A tanking druid chest piece
A cloth caster head piece
A spirit heavy leather caster leg item

Never got it myself, but it was like what 0.5% or something? Insanely rare, I saw it a handful of time ran UBRS like a madman for that flask recipe.
I want to say it was 0.5%. There were several highly desirable 0.5% drops in UBRS if memory serves.

Are the only 3 recipes that are listed on any of the wow sites. Even comments from the time it was relevant only list those 3.
(also it lists the drop rate for the hide at about 1.8%)
I would say less then 5% then again I’m unusually unlucky. It took me like 40-50 runs of UD strat to even get a Bonescrapper to drop for my rogue.

You’re mixing up the Hide of the Beast with the Chromatic Carapace, which drops off Gyth (the drake that serves as a mount for the boss in the arena where you fight off waves of mobs).
Chromatic Carapace can be turned in with a lot of rare stuff for that plate chest and also agility or spirit/int mail legs with +5 to all resistances.
Yeah I realized it was blackhands mount not the beast after I posted the previous post.
this thread reminds me of why classic vanilla is gonna be such a great game. all those old unique items you’d loot or see on vendors or skin, will now have a purpose!

I have a faint memory of the skinning rate being around 1% or so.
Our guild used to run UBRS semi-sorta-weekly.
On one run, Finkle’s dropped. Very nice, gave it to our hunter I think.
Next week, we finally got to skin the beast - and the hide dropped! First time!
The hunter sold the hide on the AH and split the proceeds with everyone in the group, we all got 175g each from it.
