Someone actively throwing a game and saying we’re going to lose before the match starts?
totally fine.
Use a bad word?
“I’m going to report you. Enjoy your ban.”
Seriously, too many spoiled children playing these days.

Can’t wait for the usual geniuses to show up and claim it’s always been against the rules to say something naughty.
Even though I remember what the game was like 20 years ago, where you had to tip toe around the forums to avoid seeing 529,000 pictures of aborted fetuses. It literally used to be the lawless wild west around here but they’d love for you to believe it’s normal to get banned for typing even an abbreviation of a naughty word.
While I don’t want that by any means, words are meaningless in the place of action. In this case, a few people were actively throwing the match. I called them out and one responded they were reporting me.
The sad part is I can see their report sticking. Reporting a player for throwing a match? I highly doubt that does anything. I have yet to hear of a single player having action taken against them for intentionally losing.
People can say they are going to report you all they want. Doesn’t mean they did.
People can even actually report you. Doesn’t mean you’ll be punished if you didn’t do anything against the ToS.
And yes, Blizzard has always punished toxicity. I myself was suspended in like 2005 for a week or so and I absolutely deserved it. And yet, somehow despite still talking in battlegrounds and dungeons, I have avoided any account action since then because I learned my lesson and changed my behavior.
did you go from telling people they are stupid to telling people they are unintelligent?
if so, you have mastered the forbidden jutsu
No.
I matured and don’t insult people over a video game anymore. I grew out of that (checks notes) 19 years ago. I have more fun, get less frustrated with losses, and avoid getting my account suspended from a game I love all by just having common courtesy for my fellow players.
Don’t get me wrong, I can still judge people, I just don’t put it into chat. There’s simply no need. The only person you end up hurting is yourself.
Ask yourself this question: are those people worth getting yourself banned over? Was it worth it to call someone names if it means you get reported and (rightfully or not) banned from the game? And is it fair to your other teammates who might just be trying their best but get their match derailed by back and forth bickering from 2 of their team members?
I’d rather play the game and have fun, win or lose. Hopefully win, but if not I don’t tell my teammates it’s their fault (even if sometimes I think it is).
tbh i never got banned or had any action taken against my account.
i’m sure i should have been, in my younger years, as you say, 19 years ago
now i usually wait for the match to end and congratulate everyone on their performance. sometimes it ends up being sarcastic, cause people didn’t play all that well, but that’s not on me.
Same. Sometimes I don’t say anything if it was a particularly bad match, but usually I at least say “good try all” if we lose and “gg gj all” if we win.
I thought the content would be about something different, but agree, OP.
Priorities like a grubby company doing a cash grab, while buggy content goes live?
Rampant Botting, and all kinds of craziness… M+ on the PvE side is a nightmare, way over tuned, not make for the actual player base.
the n word, f word, and death threats was literally used in like every bg chat
and who cares? we just used the ignore feature if we ever got our feefeez hurted. problem solved.
what i miss most is people just joking about currenmt topics . but now ppl r too afraid to joke or talk at all. they worry about being reported for offending. sad times we live in honestly
bg chat and trade chat used to be poppin with people discussing/joking about current topics in the world but now every1 is afraid to talk. great job with this new social contract or w/e
And they were literally never allowed to be. I am proof of that. I have an account action on my account. I was suspended for like a week back around 2005 or so for messages I sent to another player.
I love when people think I am lying about it though, as if I didn’t play the game from day 1 through wrath.
