I really hate primordial wave. The only fun part of it is the ability to cleave lava bursts, but couldnt that be achieved without this clunky spell? I’m not a game dev, this is just an off the cuff example to help explain my point. We could have every 4th application of flame shock enable a proc that makes our next lava burst cleave onto all targets with flame shock. Id love to free up some talent points and not use a global on a spell that interrupts the flow of the spec.
Yes the spell would be a lot more fun if it instantly applied flame Shock to max targets or just instantly fired off elemental damage at all nearby targets.
It’s a very boring spell that requires both pre-ramp and also usage of another ability after it to gain its full function.
Just rework the entire Lava Burst side of the tree so the degenerate gameplay we had for Season 3/4 never returns.
I pvp as resto. Can you say what was degen?
Spamming Lava Burst 60-70% of the time.
Just wanted to say me and all my homies hate Maldraxxus I wish they didn’t shoehorn PW into the class
Shaman all complain they never get new tools or buttons, are given primordial wave and ice fury and proceed to b*%#^ for two straight expansions about both.
Now we’re getting Tempest and everyone is pissed about that. Unleash Elements is required for Farseer and oh MAN are people mad about having to press that button too.
Like, I understand why the shaman dev hates you guys. Sure, Elemental is in really bad shape. I get it. But we HAVE gotten new toys throughout the years. You all just hate them.
I think a simpler fix would just be to have primordial wave spread flameshock to all enemies within 8 yards of the target.
I don’t play elemental, but I have seen lots of threads about spreading flame shock onto targets and how difficult it is. Maybe that could be one quality of life change to help fix it.
This is what I’ve been advocating for and I’ve been more motivated to preach it after messing with Ele finally.
Freakin preach. Enhance community has a bunch of people like that. I never get why people would want to essentially tear down their house and build a new instead of fixing it up.
Because they get crappy tools and abilities lol. Dude, currently in beta you have to cancel aura the new Tempest storm skill because it’s a DPS loss lol. I understand the IF hate, it requires you to use two skills and use another WA upkeep buff. Compare this to something awesome like Overfiend or Voidtorrent opening a black hole.
There is a reason Ele has so few players lol, blaming the players for crappy skills is nuts. Just wow.
Elemental players are begging for new stuff when they hate all the new stuff. Sorry.
I miss Fae Transfusion, fun new spell that didn’t get moved forward and given iteration. Some people here will forever lament the loss of Chain Harvest, I understand why that one didn’t move forward but it WAS fun.
We get new tools we like, they just don’t stick around or are nerfed into the ground. (doom winds)
Well if yall properly articulate what is “crappy” about then it gives specific areas to improve those tools to potentially make it more refined. Lot of Enhance players did that with Storm build in season 1 and BAM it ended up pretty well in season 2 because the devs had a clear idea why people didn’t like it…and because MSW generation wasn’t address for Elementalist but we pointed it out with a reasonable solution that also helped out Storm and BAM that got fixed too for season 3.
Instead, the majority of Shaman players just say “Pwave sucks” for example then leave it to the devs to shake an 8 ball as to why that it is and that either leads to worse tools or them doing nothing at all because CBA with more work. Or even worse, they say “Pwave sucks” then ask for it ripped alongside the whole framework its apart of for something completely new which is like saying “I don’t like my kitchen, better demolish the whole house”.
Tempest, as far as anyone who has tried it on the beta knows, is not working properly by not benefitting from mastery, haste, and damn near all of the lightning bolt talents (you know, the spell it is supposed to replace and be an empowered version of).
Primordial Wave is a waste of a GCD that has led to a play style of throwing out almost nothing but Lava Bursts that a lot of people don’t like or are sick/bored of. Ice Fury is a waste of TWO GOD DAMNED GCDs with a cast time in order to get an 8 second window of increased nature damage.
You can tell me the pile of manure you gave me is a new toy, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good toy or I’m going to like it. If Blizzard was even trying with Shaman they would have seen the initial reluctance and unenthusiastic response to Primordial Wave and gone back to the drawing board. If you put out a product and people complain or criticize it, you go back and try again, you don’t berate people for not liking your bad product.
U ok ? Will you be happy when your christmas present is a literally dog poop?
So the issue is that we are unhappy that we cast lava burst so often. That it’s a high percentage of our casts.
And because if this. We want to remove p wave. Because it allegedly interrupts the flow of the spec. That flow being…casting lava burst continuously.
We want the spread to be automatic. So that we can cast lava burst more often. Something we are unhappy about.
The new stuff literally is clunky trash. Your example was horrific, Tempest literally has to be aura cancelled on beta currently…
Also your logic makes no sense. Even when this class does good dps it has low player counts. You can’t blame the players for a class not being fun due to poorly designed spells that aren’t fun.
I think you are taking feedback from different people who maybe want different things and making it appear contradictory.
Saying P-wave should auto spread flame Shock is feedback on how to make P-wave better or more fun to play with. That is the exclusive from feedback that we cast lava burst too much which is more so feedback aimed at the spec as a whole. In this case I don’t think changing P-wave to spread shocks would increase the number of lava bursts casted, I think it would just make the process a little more smooth on the ramp side of things.
For me personally, I don’t understand why P-wave is only a fire talent for Ele. Enhance P-wave works the same except it cleaves with lightning bolt. Why can’t Ele P-wave do that too? Then it might be useful for Lightning builds which would be good because Ele has one Lightning capstone vs three for fire builds.
That’s what always perplexes me about Ele’s Primordial Wave. Enhance’s version was “made” so that it technically works for both builds because it is set on an activator shared by both builds (Lightning Bolt). Sure one does benefit one build due to the tier set a bit more but it DOES work for Storm because it’s tied to Lightning Bolt.
This boggles my mind this was never done because this would do so much to help all 3 Shaman specs by making it less hectic to play.
What they saw though was people crying and soiling themselves and the other half said “ok” and continued to play it (with the latter being high-end players). They didn’t see actual feedback on what aspects they liked and aspects they didn’t like. You all need to understand that Blizzard is 100% more open to adjusting an ability vs removing it and replacing it. And more often than not when they just yolo change something it lead to bad things.
They need to get rid of Rolling Magma, as that is one of the main cobtributors towards ele’s current bad rotation.
They should replace it with something like “When Primordial Wave is cast on a target that has flameshock, it splashes elemental damage to X enemies within Y yards to and also applies flameshock.”
This would keep its main interaction the same and act as a good flameshock spreader, which would just be a great qol change in general. Heck they could up its damage, and make it not overload lava burst just to give ele a cleave spell, in general.
