Primalist BOA Gear

I’m getting fewer drops for armour types I’m not playing at the moment.

Damn, at least I’m not suffering alone. I haven’t played in a long time so it’s just me on one character and I’d really like some drops for my class. Feels like garbage to see lots of purple drops only to have my item level stay exactly the same. At least drop the gear so I can vendor it for more than 5g

395 primal weapon is better than a 392 spark weapon

What happened to your armory portrait :joy:

In my experience, the drop rates seem incredibly out of whack. I’ve gotten many, many, MANY of the same pieces. Repeatedly. Sometimes one after the other. And I have yet to actually see other slots for some of my classes, like the plate chestpiece. I’ve killed a ton of rares since the patch on a daily basis. On multiple characters. This doesn’t seem right.

I dropped like 5 pieces of plate but they all happen to be the 4 piece slots my DK already has :person_shrugging:.

I went through on my shaman fairly recently. Got basically a full set of plate gear, not a single mail drop as I recall.

Isn’t the cost to buy the gear pretty trivial? Its 500 dust give or take no?

I have yet to see a weapon token drop out of 100 kills.

I’m just surprised they don’t sell these boas(that drom from the rares) on a vendor. I know about the “older” primalist gear but those uses coins to upgrade. I get why they did it like this but at the end of the day they’ve done it so much better in the past. Sometimes it feels like blizzard takes a step forward and then goes two backward.

Uhh…whatever happened I think it’s fixed now lol. What was wrong with it??

Your weapon was hogging up the portrait, lol.

The Black Hand is awesome but doesn’t need to be taking up the whole space lmao. Thankfully it’s fixed

If by “having this issue” you mean “I’m seeing truly random gear types” then yes.

If you mean “getting enough of one gear type for an alt” then no. I have done maybe a total of 4 days of rares on my main, no more than 20-30 minutes on a given day, and dumped the elemental currency into bags for more keys, nothing more.

On alts, only vault, no rares or currency.

In that bit of time, Ive gotten THREE 424 rings and the best gems for my three main specs, and nearly a full set of EVERY armor type, plus duplicates of many sets.

In roughly 2ish hours of total time committed to rares, plus currency, I’ve got my next 4 alts geared up in 70-80% primalist gear, and can effectively go straight to nearly 390 ilvl on them at fresh, if desired.

The rate of the pieces is so absurdity high that, even if your RNG is bad, you don’t NEED many for a new character to do well.

Assume you only get three for a given armor type, plus five sparks, that’s AT LEAST HALF at of your gear at 385+ for just existing.

And as you’re guaranteed one piece for the intro quests, it’s pretty hard to need more than a handful of pieces on a fresh character.

Rather, assume your monk was a fresh 70 alt. If you only got 5 distinct pieces of 385 gear at random, you’ll end up with 5/16 at 385 and another 5/16 at 392, and then 6/16 at 343. Your fresh alt will immediately be able to jump up to 371.4 ilvl before doing a single rare.

The upgrade items for 385 to 395 gear drops like candy. That’s basically 375 within like 30 minutes of a fresh toon; you could already be doing +7 to +10 keys right away.

The currency bags cost 2k, but you have a HEAVY chance at getting your currency back if you don’t get a token/key/upgrade item. In other words, just hitting up like 10 rares on a fresh toon is often going to translate into an extra 5-6 keys/tokens/upgrades.

In a given day, 20-30 minutes with knowledge of where rares are and how to access them efficiently is going to give you around 15-20 rares without much effort, or 7.5 to 10 guaranteed bag rolls PER DAY.

And rares can be repeat killed as well, so you’re only really gated by the effort you’re willing to put in. Even at just 20 rares per hour, or double my worst rate so far, you’re going to get a flood of tokens.

It seems that rares drop a BoA token at roughly 50% rate, and we have a weapon, a trinket, back, and 10 of each armor slot. Out of 43 tokens, ish, where 13 are live for the class you’re playing, you’re going to typically see roughly one piece of usable gear roughly every 45-60 minutes, bad RNG.

Of your 16 slots, you get a ring taken care of, and a neck craft, four sparks left.

Within about 3-5 hours of total play, with bad RNG, you’re already in +10 keys or better. If you have average RNG, you’ll be sitting well past a full M0 kit in less time than a world tour, and far less effort.

And if you get even one or two pieces more on the favorable side, each additional piece basically bumps you up another key level out the gate.

And that’s not counting whether or not you assemble tier during this or not. If you DO get tier assembled, you could very well be hitting +15 or higher keys in less than 3 hours of play, with nowhere near your full BoA token set.

And you’re not limited to this time spent, either! As you continue to spend more time, you’re not really penalized as much as other grinds as you’re also going to typically see your 395 upgrade items prior to the token drops, meaning the realistic bumps are stronger than cited above.

A fresh toon could literally spend ONE evening for 4-6 hours in one session and be geared enough for content that drops the Concentrated needed to upgrade to 418 slots.

Thus, if you spent 6 hours and only saw about 60% of your total slots, picked up the Onyx, and crafted the neck and missing spots, you’re going to EASILY be able to get 6-7 395 primalist pieces, 5 392 crafted pieces, and be at a level to see 402 ilvl gear drops AND start progressing to 418 crafted gear. At that point, roughly every 4 hours of M+ 16s is basically a guaranteed +1.6 average iLvl bump.

Even at a rate of 20% for personal loot rate, you’re going to average around 2 slots per 418 item upgrades, and that assumes nobody else wants to trade their slots.

In doing the content to upgrade your crafted gear at THAT point, you’re going to see, on average, at least 10 pieces of 402 gear. You’re likely going to see around 6-9k valor, and you’re already going to be replacing the items.

You don’t need 13/13 tokens, you only need like 5 or 6 tokens and a weekly quest or three of gold laying around. By the time you do the content that you care about, you’ll upgrade past the slots you’re missing.

TLDR: The rate is fine, and while they certainly COULD favor your current armor type, you’re assumption of needing that type most may not be correct, nor do you really need that advantage. You’re only gated by time, you get a freebie slot, and you only need a fairly trivial amount. It’s fine tbh

not necessarily.

if you have ever played diablo, any class currently being played most gear drops are for everything but the one you are using. and bottom line: diablo and wow are on blizzard’s ticket. not so random

I now have 2 1/2 sets of cloth gear. I’ve gotten it all on my DH. Got a set of mail and a few plate pieces, all on my DH again. Still missing a few pieces on my DH. This is ridiculous.

Exactly, but people here will stand up for the most asinine stuff.,

Yuh gotten one plate, at least one leather, like 5 cloth and only one Mail which was a helmet and my Evoker is an engineer so got my Goggles.

There was a thread about this last week and the usual suspects came out of the woodwork with their normal deflection techniques.

“RNG is RNG hurr hurr”

Funny how silent they are now when it’s getting pretty obvious there is some RNG tinkering going on behind the scenes.

The RNG with these drops just seems…off to me. Considering how much bad RNG I’ve dealt with through the years, I don’t say that lightly. I really think that something’s wrong with it.
