#PriestsDeserveBetter

After the abomination of a “rework” in Shadowlands I’m not sure why anyone would expect Blizzard even can do better.

welp at this rate… lets just wait for next expansion. Worst priest expansion by far… enough to put this class on the shelves.

If I’m giving them every benefit of the doubt maybe they’re gun shy - they had to put a lot of work into priest in DF - and it was kind of discouraging to see weekly 5-10% hotfixes every patch trying to claw holy out of the gutter they’d put us in. Things ended up “usable” in 10.2.6 and it seems like they’re scared to do much more!

It felt like a filler expansion for the entire class, and I guess I’m glad I sat most of it out.

the changes were bad and half azz.
Until they commit to a full redesign, I am giving them no excuses.

at this rate, we will ether get another half azz redesign midway in the game – which by then its too late since most of the expansion has been gone through.

and or

We are left for dead for a full expansion cycle.

The community isn’t exploding onto their face like we did in shadowlands. So yeah nothing is gonna happen.

I would argue they wasted a lot of time prior to DF in handling all the issues that shadow built up since Legion.

Then when essentially the writing was on the wall for all to see with the initial release of Shadows DF tree in the DF alpha/beta and was met with abysmal perception and then it wasn’t until like 2 weeks before beta ended when the current DF style of Shadow Priest talent tree came out with a couple weeks for quick fast and rough iteration before they shipped it.

Then with 10.1 did they actually spend some dedicated time with the now current direction of Shadow within DF.

Point is… Shadow and Priest as a whole have been playing catch up. All the other classes seem to be getting the attention and care early in the development cycle while priest each time just gets passed on to the end and then time runs out and they have to ship it as is.

So the 10.1 patch is just a late Beta version of DF.

And now if we get another version of 10.1 in a 11.1 rework, It’s just a late TWW development cycle.

Priest always seemingly playing catch up in both the arms race and the development process.

its a joke
Ironic part is, druids are pretty much in the same boat in treatment too. I haven’t seen anything happen to them too.

And they are my fall off choice if priest gets nothing. Ironically, if we get nothing, durids get nothing too…

My 2nd lineup is Demon Hunter.
I absolutely loved them in Legion and was a breath of fresh air after the Frankenstein mess they turned shadow into.

But going into BFA they just felt off… I think both Demon Hunters and Shadow Priest suffered the most going into BFA because both were built around the Artifact Weapon system and now have to find a place in the game without access to that. Needless to say, I stepped away from wow entirely for a bit during that period in time lol.

Going into TWW, Demon Hunters haven’t seen much development in alpha/beta process. But they play pretty fine as is now so I don’t really have much to complain on that front.

i would go warlock but i hate the PVP experience with them currently. Ever since everyone got shifted to having soo much mobility and CC – everything – Its just mehe experience.

I am so far just thinking of maining mage for once until my Sub burns out. worst expac ever

For reference, if anyone is curious about the initial talent trees for Priest back at the beginning or prior to the beginning of Dragonflight Alpha…

It’s funny when you compare that to what the most updated trees have been in TWW talent tree updates.

the priest ones were an utter mess.

mess mess messsssssssssssssssss

It’s actually pretty sad - this should be the expansion for priests to be excited about, what with the Void and Xal’atath being center stage. We should be getting - as a class - the treatment DKs got during Lich King, DHs during Legion, and Evokers during dragonflight. But instead it feels like we’ve seen the least commitment and development resources.

There’s part of me hoping that they’re holding out for a large mid expansion rework in reaction to the story around Xal’atath.

Splitting the Void from Shadow to create a 4th spec maybe?

Only something on that monumental scale would make this lack of attention somewhat acceptable. Anything less and it remains a complete and utter disappointment.

That will NEVER happen lmao

I think the goal with the Hero talents is to provide exactly that.

It would be quite ridiculous if they now all the sudden split Shadow into 2 specs now that we already have Voidweaver.

I think it’s clear now that they need to come to an agreement as to the vision of Priest and Shadow specifically and then the hero paths will be built from that clear and unified vision.

To me, the sad state of the the Priests hero talent trees is directly related to the ambiguous state Priest and it’s specs currently reside in.

They built these new additions on top of unstable foundation. It’s no surprise that it’s lack of care and attention and clear direction is bursting at the seams as the base class itself can’t handle all the stress.

Except archon plays voidform and voidweaver plays DA. Voidweaver’s mechanics in no way account for the gameplay of voidform.

Yup…

You are proving my statement.

The hero talents are built from shaky ground.

If the class and specs were built in a manner that made them solid on their own without so many compounding issues then I think building the hero talent trees would take a whole new direction that fits better and compliments the playstyles.

Instead, we are given the best they can cook up (or the worst) based on a flimsy foundation and lack of attention and care to do either it’s fair expected service.

Crap in, crap out as the saying goes.

Can’t expect much when your working with sticks and mud.

They need to give the attention and care as they did with many or all of the other classes.

i can expect them to hire employees to do their job properly and create a safe and creative environment that will enable them to do so.

For the cost of this game, I expect the best.

I expect a redesign of this class and other classes that are in need.

No excuses, no more.

I imagine it’s partly because theres such division about the direction shadow should go. Some people want old shadow back and hate the idea of any void theme. Others want voidform, and some want something entirely new.

I’ve seen some people who think leaning more into the disease/psychic abilities of shadow would be cool, and it probably could be.

Overall though, there’s a serious lack of consensus in the priest community on what shadow should be or what direction it should go.

All we have is “we don’t like the current version.” Which is such a general statement it doesn’t really provide much direction.
