Priest or Warlock?

Trying to choose a caster main. I’m looking for something that will do reasonably okay for more than 1 expansion.

I like Priest because I mained a Disc Priest in early Cata when healing was a nightmare in dungeons so I feel some sort of attachment to the class. I love Holy Priest and I prefer Shadow Priest’s class fantasy.

I like Warlock’s tankiness and utility. I’m the person putting down Soulwell and closet in raids. I use all 3 specs - Demo or Destro in group content (depending on my mood) and Aff in questing. I have never mained a Warlock before though so I don’t feel any attachment to the class, and the class fantasy doesn’t speak to me.

Shadow priest. Big damage and the utility as it stands will not change even if they nerf it.

Based on SP’s history, does how good they are change dramatically every expansion or patch? Or are they at least middle of the pack most of the time?

Warlock is pretty fun and survivability is best of any caster imo.

You also get 3 different DPS specs to pick from.

Chaos bolts are also very satisfying.

But if that isn’t your thing, priests do the whole divine power thing pretty well.

They’re usually good in raid, sometimes good in M+, and get reworked every 3 patches.

Right now they’re very good in both.

That’s my problem tbh haha. I love Priest and Warlock for their own reasons, that’s why I can’t choose.

If I tried to main both though, it’ll be too much so it’s one or the other. I just don’t know which one.

That sounds very good. I mean, I’m not looking for OP dps all day everyday but it’s very nice hearing that they’re usually viable in some way.

Choose a Warlock (unless you really want to be a healer). Having a pet (minion) means you’re never alone and you’ll have someone around who’ll take your beatings for you. Warlocks definitely trump priests!

Not that I’m prejudiced or anything, mind you… :grinning:

I mean, supposedly the changes coming that are intended to be a buff in ST and a nerf in AOE are going to be the opposite (ST nerf, AoE buff)

Warlocks are about to become way more popular once the next patch arrives, and the demon customization rework-thingy.

I’ll probably be playing one, if I can decide the race, probably Draenei. Wish we got the red skin too, though.

I actually don’t mind this. AoE as SP was actually dumb.

Is this for Warlocks?

Just the shadow changes going live with this upcoming reset.

They were trying to do one thing, but might have accidentally done the opposite.

Priest has heal and dps. Warlock got only dps but better tmog options (since priest dps is all… purple cloud).

ST nerf, AoE nerf.

Yogg saron is big in ST, nerfing it by 35% isn’t compensated by buffing 3 generators by 10% each

Warlocks are probably one of the most consistently good classes in the game.

Shadow Priests tend to be S-Tier or D Tier and rarely anything in between.

Your name sums up my feelings right now really well.

I was so sure I was going with Shadow Priest, then when I went and filled up her vault today, and found out that while I do love Shadow Priest in short bursts, I can’t stomach long playing sessions on her like I can my Paladin or Warlock. So she has been demoted to main alt.

Awkward.
