Guys think Priest or Shaman would be a more viable long term main choice? More than likely healing in raids, but in pvp shadow / ele (enhance to some degree early on) are going to be options in my book. Which would you guys say is better overall? I know shaman totem utility is killer but priest is only horde magic dispel, burst damage vs consistent. etc etc
Both will get you just as far as the other. It’s all up to personal choice tbh.
Shadow is top tier in single target PvP, and Holy is THE heal spec. You’ll be forced into resto and have to chain heal. You won’t be the worst, but you won’t be particularly great at anything. Ehance is unplayable, so you’ll have to be a low dps caster if you want to go ele.
Priest in Classic is top tier. Shaman is very middle of the road.
Shaman have some unique utility in their totems (good ol’ Tremor Totem!) but overall priests are Classic WoW’s definitive healer.
Plus, it has to be said:
“As a shadow priest, you will melt faces in PvP.”
You need atleast 4 digit IQ to play shaman in classic in full potential. Those totems… are hard.
I agree with majoirty of what youre saying outside of ele, unless youre referring to pve specifically ele is T1.
@scuzz melting faces is very enjoyable to me, as well as saying my friends.
@edgy lul, totem twisting is a thing and makesi t to atleast 8 IQ dang girl.
If you’re fortunate enough to have guildies rolling red team (sigh), go shammy.
You’ll never regret rolling shammy. Their raid heals are great, and they are SO versatile in PvP. Easier to level than priests, too.
People really underestimate a geared elemental shamans ability to absolutely delete people in PvP.
But ya in PvE you’ll be chain heal spamming. But boy will the fury warriors and rogues love you.
I think you may be able to raid as ele/resto. Not 100% sure though.
Priest heal are great and shadow is fun.
Totems are the real deciding factor. Do you like spamming totems? And having to replace as the fight moves? If not don’t go shaman. Also shaman probably oom faster which is annoying in pvp
Tbh I feel the same can be said about priest, and its easy to level.
@atarael and no doubt 1 bit about ele burst in pvp. It’s insane. two shot 2-3 people at a time.
@swole I don’t mind totems it adds to the class to me if anything, a place and foget as long as youre in range. kinda nice. and a great toolkit with them.
BUT with that being said, silence / uncleansable fear/ purge/magic cleanse/stun procs and great off heals/main heals and a op bubble all sound really appealing also
Play what speaks to you. Both are viable and fun. Shamans have totem management. Ele Shamans also wreck people. SPriests are nasty on 1v1, but they go OOM very fast. Group setting Shadow may not be as desirable in premades. Are you wanting a 1v1 class? SPriest would fit that bill, group I am of the opinion Shaman is superior for doing damage. Enjoy.
Healers should make a Priest, Druid, Paladin, and Shaman. Tanks should make a Warrior, Druid, and Paladin.
Being extremely flexible is a good thing for dungeons and raids.
Well, I’m going dwarf priest… .
If I were allowed to be a hordelet, I’d be a shammy, but priesting is gonna be pretty awesome, too.
I feel you, I think priest is gonna be a fun pick, just the shaman utility/viability is also a big + to me. having a melee spec is nice even if its just a meme one. But ele isnt super good until AQ almost for pvp with the one shotting. Shadow atleast can see some play.
I’m going Priest. It was the first class I ever played in Azeroth. It’s actually a pretty chill class to level in vanilla, and I always enjoyed healing random people while out and about in the world.
