im wondering of the 2 classes which would be easier to relearn how to heal.
mostly play ranged classes/dps in WoW. my 1st main ever was a paladin and holy for the longest time as well. problem with that however is im not so great at melee dpsing i can heal yea but when it comes to dpsing in melee range + healing it will take some time to actually adjust and get decent.
Lore wise i guess i like paladin more; fantasy wise paladin. gear wise paladin. i have not played a priest in general and paladin i haven’t played since cata.
Both are pretty much straight up how they heal…if you want to be more of a melee then pally… if you want to play ranged then I’d go with priest.

yea that is my problem though i mostly am comfortable with the priest since it’s ranged but it also has 2 healing specs idc much to play both in general and not a huge fan of cloth gear.
melee wise i just gonna have to suck for a while until i learn how to dps and heal in melee range.
Well, holy Pally is not much of a DPS rotation…drop consecration., if there’s really no need to heal anybody, throw a holy shock on the mob. And throw a hammer.

Thanks yea maybe i will try paladin and get used to it. Maybe i will enjoy it more long term
Why I like Pally, I have an oh crap button sorta like mage… sheild is awsome lol…ignore mechanics and throw out a bunch of heals
i mean i love paladins in other games but for some reason cant get into melee in WoW. i almost always play a paladin in other mmorpg’s.
Hpriest will probably do better with less effort, but if you prefer pally aesthetics, go pally.
Paladin, as someone who plays both, a thousand-times-over I would suggest paladin.
- First of all, it’s way simpler. Holy Priest has a lot of abilities. In a sense, they aren’t extraneous either because you have to use them all and keybind them all. Disc priest is very good, but is also bloated and hard to react to damage immediately. A difficult class all around.
Not that paladin is overly simple, but it’s a lot better than the other two in that regard.

Also, idk what it is, but I am seeing priests absolutely everywhere now. I have been in multiple groups where all the healers were priests. Many others that have been only priests and evokers/priests and druids. This isn’t a bad thing per se, but with holy paladin being the best of the three paladin specs right now, you are more likely to find groups that have no ret or prot pally, and therefore you bring the coveted devo aura and cds, while the other three priests in the group have the fort buff covered.

It’s fun. This comes down to personal taste obviously, but the priest healers really feel like you are just standing there and healing. Paladin is up in the action, building hp, casting heals, doing it all.
Paladin. You also get to use a shield while not having to tank. That is sick.
yea i had 2nd thoughts with the paladin then i made a priest about same lvl only 15 and idk already confused i got like 5 different healing spells already. i mean i know what they do in general but 5 damn spells for healing just at that level is kind of a lot. might feel like my shaman in the end tons of buttons
Humans spent millions of years evolving to the point where we created our own civilized society and you can’t learn how and when to use 20 different buttons? Do it for your ancestors i believe in you

bro i didn’t say i don’t know how to use 20 different buttons i do play an ele shaman all my bars are filled and yes i do use them in all various situations including self healing myself in and out of group content when healers are struggling.
millions of years evolving just to only now understand we are the problem with society and destroying our own home and still so slow to actually stop it because more then half the people give no F’s about future generations. but aye GG. trust me i can play it.

If you decide to pick up Paladin, get ready for some annoyances about your mastery. The proximity-based mastery makes it really annoying to play with meanwhile priests have a mastery that echoes their heal in the form of a hot.
I think what makes her breaks either one of these specs is the melee reliance for holy paladin. Even when using a caster only build.
So my recommendation is a holy priest. It’s fun and has potent ST heals.

Depends what you want to do. Heal pugs? Paladin might be overwhelming to triage all the incoming AoE damage… you’ll have to be a very quick snipe to save people.
I’m no longer shocked at seeing dps 100% to nearly 20-10% in 1-2 globals.
For a more relaxed experience, I would say holy priest, but since their squishy be careful with your position.
im kind of used to it in other games the paladin healers are the same. melee ranged healers. just not used to playing melee in WoW but so far it isn’t that bad but got to wait until higher level when im actually doing group content.
Holy Priest is the easiest to start healing. There’s less responsibility than all other healers that have big cooldowns that are expected or even required in some settings. Holy Priest cooldowns not as grand and more forgiving to use at the “wrong” time. The healing style is reactive and straightforward too.
