Priest mobility idea

I know y’all been thirsting for some mobility, and many seem to want that in the form of door of shadows or something akin. But I have been thinking about something a little more unique than the conventional mobility that exists.

Soul Split: 40 yard range. 1.5 second cast. “Tether a piece your soul to any ally for 60 minutes, allowing you to instantly teleport to them every 25 seconds as long as they are within range and line of sight.

Choice node 1- Soulmates: You and your ally gain 60% increased movement speed for 5 seconds after you teleport to them.

Choice node 2- Bolstered Souls: You and your ally gain 30% damage reduction for 5 seconds after you teleport to them.

Granted this does rely on an allies positioning, but it seemed flavorful to me and seemed unique enough, despite shadowstep and monks being able to function similarly, albeit without the choice nodes.

Thoughts?

The LoS requirement and tethering in advance would heavily limit the usefulness.

Plus, that’d be asking for new coding. The theme in DF and TWWI - especially for priest - has been recycling and reviving priest abilities all the way back to 1.0. It’s an easier ask for them to dust off old code and add it to the talent tree than to design something new. Haha, it usually takes them several hotfixes to iron out the bugs whenever they’ve tried something new…

Vault of Heavens and Door of Shadows have both been done and both offer unique capability that priest sorely lacks and require minimal effort to shove back into the game. Those both still seem like the best options all the way around.

sounds just like the new transcendence talent that monks got. I honestly dislike it, range becomes an issue especially in bgs. inconsistent. Priest need actual mobility. not a gimmick. we have the worst mobility of all healers in the game as all of ours is designed to give a small buff to an ally more so than to be used on our selves. as with anything that is usable on friendly targets, it is dog crap for balance issues. feather, bubble speed boost, all a joke. we need an actual movement speed buff that is more than jus a small garbage 30% for a few seconds. we are simply too slow in both pvp and in M+

Regarding the theme of your suggestion, it comes off as more affliction warlock as they are all about souls.

Priests have the “Spirits” theme with our Shadowy Apparitions and the whole Spirit Healer angle.

They do sound and seem very similar but they are different enough to take a moment to pause and think.

This idea is similar to the idea I had that I called Mind Shift.

  • Mind Shift
    You Shift Minds with a party member, causing you to swap locations. 3 min cooldown.

This is both very thematic and fits the Priest being the Troll class motif with our Leap of Faith and Void Shift type spells.

So you still get to where you’re going, but you also put your ally right where you were for good or bad.

But one thing you mentioned has inspired a different idea of mine where sure maybe you split your Spirit or if it’s Shadow only, you can command your a Spirit to act as a conduit for your spells similar to Psychic Link that deals a portion of your damage equal to all your other psychic link targets to all targets around the Spirit and that Spirit can be hosted to a party member.

Essentially, you can deal your psychic link damage to targets not affected by your dots.

So something that would read like this…

  • Homunculus
    Attach a portion of your spirit to a party member. This spirit acts as a Psychic Link conduit that deals your Psychic Link damage to all enemies within 8 yards of the target. Lasts for 60 minutes.

Not sure about the cooldown and duration, but an interesting way to deal damage without getting your dots on the target. And since it’s psychic link damage, it should behave in a way to bypass the mastery aspect as it will just deal a percentage of the damage you dealt already. So as long as you are dealing damage to a target that is fully dotted up, then it should be fine as a conduit damage spread.
