Priest, mage, locks, how much for wand?

If someone is selling wands at Kharanos or Goldshire about an hour after launch, how much would you pay for a level 5+ wand? Consider that ice cold milk is 1s25c for a stack of 5 and that a lesser wand means not having to drink from level 5 to 10.

It costs 6 linen + 10c to make a brown linen robe which has about a 20% chance of disenchanting to lesser essence.

A wand takes one lesser magic essence plus 50c of wood.

18 linen plus 60c would be about an average take to continuously make wands.

So a fair price might be 20 linen as trade for a wand or 10 silver?

Look at ah for the best price

I want to amazon the wands to you much faster than the auction house will have them. I plan to sell wands within an hour of server launch.

I get free water as a mage
So not much

I plan on selling them for around 15s the first few days of launch. Or will trade for linen/mats to DE + a small tip (1-2s).

thats a lot of linen in an hour…if you plan to go the tailoring to get enchanting mats route.
do you have people feeding you?

It depends. I would take like 10 linen myself as it isn’t really a huge deal to get tailoring up and enchanting to the point where I can make the cheap wand. If someone doesn’t have tailoring though (maybe dropped after getting the wand in Enchanting), I can imagine the linen is much less of a payoff.

How much money do you think they will have?
I can run to IF and check the prices there. If you are cheaper, I can still buy from you. Plus it won’t be a wasted trip as i have business in IF.

Most mage power levelers don’t even train conjure water because it lags what you can buy from the vendor. They buy milk instead of spells. I think having a early wand would mean you could forgo the milk.

In the last final stress test I leveled up enchanting enough to make the starter wand. It was not hard to do, just took some time like everything else does in the game. But it really made a difference after I got it. Killing stuff became a whole lot easier on my dwarf priest. Made my mana go a whole lot farther too. It really made a difference. Rather than purchase one you might want to consider making your own. Just pick up enchanting craft the starting wands and drop it later if you want to do some other profession.

Pay zero gold for your wand one hour after launch. Make your own.

I bet a wand is better than training spells, at least for levels 5 to 8 or so. 10s is probably a bargain.

I did this as well specifically to see how fast i could get my wand in undead territory (lot of clothies).

I did do quests that had humanoids/undead(gnolls, undeads) but i was lvl 10, nearly 11 before I had the 50 linen I needed.

The question isn’t about how good wands are but how much players will pay 1 hour after launch.

The barter system seems more profitable at first and less work on your part?

Yes I like the barter idea. Say somewhere between 10 and 20 linen per wand (although at 10 linen it might not be self sustaining)

oh for sure 100% i would give 20 linen for a wand that early.
only reason a lot of us take tailoring/ench is that wand and we need about 50 to get there.

I wouldn’t give it for a ‘give me 20 linen to get my skill up, and ill send you a wand when i can make one’ though.

No, definitely it would have to be a “here is your wand, here is 20 linen”.

I just want it to be self sustaining. 18 linen gives you a 60% chance at disenchanting a lesser magic essence from 3 robes…although maybe some rare times you will get more than 1 (not sure)?

In beta early on I was seeing wands between 10 and 30 silver on the AH.

It took me most of a day and as a priest helping several groups kill hogger to get sufficient silver to buy a wand (think it was level 9 wand drop out of westfall.

Over the next day I had 2 more wands gifted to me in groups I was with.

The level 5 wands will be more utilized by the slower levelers and alts after gold is farmed from mobs / sold to vendors / quest drops etc early on.

I do agree that if a caster can use a wand, it is important to have the best wand, or even any wand.

/OOM is a true thing in classic, at all levels.

some rare times it will take you 10+ robes to get one.

odds don’t work like that on 3 tries at 20% its still under 50% chance to get a magic essence

there is over 10% chance you lose 10 times in a row on 20% odds.

I meant long term sustain odds, such that if you de 1000 robes you get an average of about 200 essence.
