Priest lightwell? This doesn't seem good, what am missing?

Looking at talents for P2 with the Priest and lightwell seems… Underwhelming, am I missing something?

Nope. It is underwhelming and never taken.

Waste of a 31 point talent

Lightwell is garbage unfortunately. However, do not despair, several other classes have trash 31 point talents (I’m looking at you Vigor).

Perhaps they will get a rune that makes it good. If it turned into like a healing tide totem that just auto healed rather than people clicking it

There are actually alot of talents in Classic that gives less than 1% of a throughput even though it says something like 10%.

Beware, and always double check.

If they removed the clicking and just made it heal on contact it would be a decent talent

yep, melee crit chance of 3% costing 31 talent points isn’t anything to write home about either.

Glad someone else mentioned this. Really hoping they adjust it before phase 2. Otherwise it is absolutely worthless.

There’s a part of me that hopes they make lightwell actually playable. It at least has its uses during wrath for specific encounters, but it’s almost never been good.

I’d expect we get a rune that’s dedicated to every 31pt talent so people are A) encouraged to go deep for thematic reasons and B) easier to balance if you assume everyone is mostly 31/X/Y instead of the various weird splits and mixes.

But if not… yeah Lightwell blows

Wasn’t there a version or a glyph or something that made Lightwell auto distribute its charges instead of being manually clicked? That version would be awesome in tandem with PoM or CoH.

To the OP: Yes, as is, Lightwell is terrible.

Lightwell throughput is apparently really strong, the problem is clicking it is not only kind of annoying, it can be a legitimate DPS loss.

It’s definitely unique though. At the time I thought it was a really cool idea and I’m glad they tried it, even if it didn’t ultimately end up working out very well. It might have worked better if you could click it from farther away, or if it worked like Symbiosis where everyone had their own “lightwell button” on their hotbar for when lightwell existed.

what’s funny is vigor lost even more ‘usefulness’ because of the runes reducing the cost of backstab and ambush.

Remember the login screen tip that just said “Click the lightwell!” Bless their hearts, they really tried.

IIRC it got some buffs somewhere in the Wrath timeframe and we used it then, but yeah, only if playing with people who would click it. (Later there was another iteration where you didn’t have to click it. That might still be there in the retail Holy tree? But nobody takes it because it’s a choice node.)

they could make a rune that transforms your lightwell in a little naaru like T’uure legendary staff skill

Your Holy Word spells have a chance to summon an image of T’uure at your side to aid you in combat.

Still no rune or book for lightwell to be smth more than a 10 minute bandage distribution rig? Seems weird the SoR rune was put in before a Lightwell bonus.

There was a point in time Lightwell didn’t break on damage and that was fantastic. It allowed your group to self-manage while you managed to drink. That was gone in a hurry, but there’s no real reason it’s not back for Season of Discovery, where everything is wild and zany in terms of power scaling.

Rune of purifying well

When lightwell is used it also cleanses 1 magic, posion, etc effect.

This would make it good depending on the fight, and makes it amazing in pvp.

Another idea – when Lightwell is on cooldown, your healing effects grant Echo of Light.

Gives deep holy priests echo, fulfilling the Retail Minus prophecy for priests.

Rune of Persistent Well:
Your lightwell gains legs and the ability to charge at injured party or raid members, knocking them back slightly until they click on the lightwell.

Alt name: Might as Well.
