Hats off to all you priest. Just returned to the game decided dust off my priest. All was good until BFA then what a pain. And I was leveling with a friend most of the time. Can only imagine how hard it was to make it through solo.
Shadow if I pulled two mobs it might be a grave run. Also tired disc survival was much better but it was painfully slow. Now that I’m out of the leveling gear it’s becoming enjoyable again.
would like to main priest in shadowlands but not sure I can stomach that again. I feel like shadows bubble should be a little stronger while leveling so it don’t have to be constantly spammed …guess that would make it to powerful later on. Hopefully somethings done it wasn’t fun a lot of the time.
I been playing on and off for a long time (With most the classes) and fell like priest are the hardest class to level. I’m I wrong?

Are you kidding? Shadowpriest has always been renowned (as far as I’m aware) for pulling several mobs at once because of some of the strongest aoe dmg and self healing. Git Gud?
That advice is a couple of expansions old. Voidform is just bad for leveling. Self heals are gone. Shadow is slow, and has no nice leveling perks. Levitate maybe? So ya, it’s not good and not looking better in Shadowlands.

I think I wouldn’t call it “hardest”, I mean leveling is the most basic content in the game and not exactly “hard” plus as Disc you have almost no risk of dying, so I’d call it “slow”.
But yeah Priest is definitely the slowest class to level imo, two of the specs are healers which will be naturally slower. As for shadow, it has long ramp up time along with very poor CC, defensives, or kiting tools to be able to handle large AOE pulls.
Ultimately I like to focus more on end-game group content and I only need to level once for that so while I would love a more efficient questing/leveling option I don’t mind it too much.

That just highlights how utterly broken the spec is lol.
You would think doing quests / leveling would be the EASY part and the hard part is END game.
Yet for Shadow, the game gets easier once you finally don’t need to play it because you have all the gear. But the entire start to end you struggle every step of the way.
Sounds like Shadow will attract LOTS of fresh blood lol.
Back in vanilla when I had no clue what I was doing, I leveled all the way to 60 out in the open world as a hodge podge of random holy and disc talents. Looking back, that was painful. I don’t think it matters what spec you level as nowadays
That’s the thing though, Disc is arguably better/faster then shadow with how broken shadow is. At least from what I heard its easier/faster to level as Disc compared to Shadow. But I don’t know how accurate that is.
Pulling 20 mobs and spamming holy nova/ starburst is working for me
Shadow is the worst leveling spec in the game.
Edit: And if anyone disagrees, don’t tell me I’m wrong, tell me what’s worse.
Disc on the other hand is one of the best ones, so just level Disc.
Oh. That wasn’t my experience.
I found Disc easiest to level but it takes forever to kill things.

Nah not even close to be “one of the best” for leveling I mean Disc is “safe” and basically you won’t likely die but it’s extremely slow due to the very poor AOE so I wouldn’t call it “good” for leveling.
In fact I main Disc but end up going Shadow for leveling because even though is probably the worst DPS spec for leveling it’s still faster than either Disc or Holy. Only really swap back to Disc if I need to solo one elite or something.
I’ve been leveling this little wild man as a Disc. Goblin and tearing up jack.
Dotting up then Schism into Shining Force/Penance/Smite is decent burst for a healer.
Plus, your not dying unless you seriously get overzealed with hubris.
Until you get to level 100, I strongly suggest you level using Disc/Holy. Why level 100? It’s because you get Legacy of the Void.
You will also need five to six mobs for this to work as well as picking Dark Void/Misery. In addition, try to grab melee mobs. Otherwise, train all the mobs to the caster.
In essence, here’s what you do:
- Open with a Mind Blast/Shadow Word: Void
- Dot up five or six mobs. If done correctly, you will hit exactly 60 insanity with Misery. If using Dark Void, same thing applies but use it after VT five or six mobs to get to 30ish insanity. The latter does not require opening up with Mind Blast/Shadow Word: Void as DV gives you a lot of insanity. It will fill up 1/3rd of the bar easily…allowing you to hit 60 insanity needed for Void Eruption.
- Void Eruption with careful placement that all the mobs are in melee range. LoS if necessary.
- Mind Seer until/Void Bolt only until the pack dies.
This should sustain you fairly easily. After that, heal up if necessary. Rinse and repeat.
I levelled mostly as disc; I felt too squishy as shadow.
Once as disc in WM, I got attacked by a similar level shaman. I ignored him and kept pulling mobs. Eventually he got bored and ran off.
