Priest. Dont let this be okay

Really? Many class changed, and priests will have to wait till 11.1? That is not okay. Dont let them fool you. Priests has been lacking since dragonflight launch and we have to wait till this expansions second season? At least we are getting another plunderstorm… and honestly if its not a laggy mess and playable. Its like a slap in our faces

Holy and Disc both closed out S4 of DF in a good spot. especially in PVP. But we have never come back around to being as good as we had it by the end of Battle for Azeroth. And as long as they keep tuning entire kits around a certain output over a certain length of time instead of tuning each spell individually to cap out at a certain HPS like they use to do, We will never see any meaningful improvement.

Where’d they say we have to wait until 11.1?

That’s the crux of the problem indeed. It’s why so many individual spells feel so bad to press.

Issue is holy is fine. Great in raids, decent in m+ (not the best bust disc is pretty high up there)

A damage buff and a cc wpuld be nice but we are decent for now otherwise

Where did Blizzard say that? I thought everyone hated Plunderstorm…

Many people loved Plunderstorm.

An overwhelmingly loud vocal minority of PvP haters who felt compelled to get the fomo rewards posted all over and made it feel like everyone hated it.

This just isn’t true. Disc is ok in M+ and Holy is ok in raids because Halo is broken. Holy is unplayable in high keys.

This is like saying you duct taped the door back on your car so it’s fine.

All of Holy’s AoE spells heal for so little we don’t even spec into them. Renew heals for less than out of combat health regen.

Priests, specifically Holy, are not “fine”.

Ah, I see. Pretty standard for most things, I suppose (not just WoW).

Barely anyone PvPs.

Tier Sets are not a means to balance a class to make it feel good.

Just because a class can pump out comparable numbers doesn’t make it “Fine”.

Holy uses 3-4 Spells in their rotation because the others are trash, Healing CDs are outdated and weak as well. – Only “Good” spell is Halo, and its literally the ONLY reason why H Priests have comparable HPS in raids.

Disc requires Enemies to effectively Heal, they have very limited burst healing and rely more on Party Members, Dodging and Kicking the right things. There are very few 911 buttons a Disc Priest has. God forbid, the last mob dies when a fresh Poison RoT hits your party. Best thing a Disc Priest has going, is additional DPS and Defensive CDs.

Shadow is a f’n mess right now. – Mid Tier DPS, and relies ENTIRELY on its CDs. Maintaining proper DPS feels like driving down a pothole infested road while trying to eat a bowl of soup. Its messy, and doesn’t feel good. If you fubar your rotation after popping your CDs, you lose 100s of thousands of DPS. – Its trash imo.

The issues with this season is this…

7 out of 8 dungeons have poisons/curses and they also went and made the dungeons linear and/or you have to pull so much trash that there’s nothing to mind soothe skip.

It’s like Blizzard deliberately went out of their way to stop Shadow Priests from becoming fotm again.

Id be curious to see what you have actually accomplished on your priest as you are posting from a druid.

I agree that our aoe spells are on the weak side right now.

In mythic+ disc are pulling 16 and 17’s they are more then fine. Holy is kinda stuck at 13s and 14s but doing better then hpals.

Regardless holy priests can play at higher levels and have nothing holding them back from achieving top tier gear and farming the crests to upgrade them.

Pure hps buffs would.be nice, but not needed. Utility on the otherhand i feel we are very much missing.

Our inflated numbers allow us to achieve 16s, but this often depends on DPS players handling all the other mechanics for us. In City of Treads, without a Shaman or another class that can cleanse poison, it’s easy to wipe at the entrance to the third and fourth bosses.

We lack effective interrupts and strong crowd control options. Instead, we end up scattering mobs or using Mind Control (which doesn’t work on everything). Our dispel profile is one of the weakest. Yes, we have Mass Dispel, but it only removes magic effects, while Monks can remove poison and magic, and Shamans can handle curses, magic, poisons, fear, interrupts, AoE stuns, knock-ups, aggro management (with Earth Elemental), anti-death totems, shields, and more – much of which is baseline, not even talent-specific.

Priests are in a rough spot, lacking a lot of utility. Even to get disease cleanse, we have to invest two talent points. For Shadow Priests, most options in the upper part of the class tree are subpar; for Discipline, there’s little to be excited about, and missing certain talents puts us at a bigger disadvantage compared to other healers.

I don’t need to be the top healer or even meta; I just want to be able to contribute utility like other healers can. For example:

  • Monks have interrupts, single-target crowd control, AoE stuns, and can cleanse poison, disease, and magic effects. They also have root and slow immunity.
  • Druids offer interrupts, soothe, AoE fear, cleanses for poison, curse, and magic, battle resurrection, root removal, and immunity to polymorph.
  • Paladins bring interrupts, single-target crowd control, AoE disorientation, cleanses for poison, disease, and magic, along with abilities like BoP, Freedom, immunity, and battle resurrection.
  • Evokers have interrupts, AoE rage removal, AoE snare, single-target crowd control, all-debuff cleanses, heroism/lust, free movement ability, rescue, mana buffs, and can cast while moving.
  • Shamans have the fastest ranged interrupt, AoE stun, knockbacks, cleanses for poison, fear, magic, charm, sleep, and curse, anti-death totem, speed totem, hero/lust, self-battle resurrection, and the ability to cast while moving.

We lack interrupts, lust/hero, battle resurrection, and both single-target and AoE stuns. Our dispel profile only covers one effect beyond magic, and Mass Dispel has a 2-minute cooldown. Mind Soothe is largely useless since Blizzard made most packs immune to it. Our only mobility options are Feather or a 30% speed boost from Power Word: Shield, and talenting Fade only removes slow effects temporarily – it doesn’t prevent reapplication.

To top it off, Power Infusion was nerfed significantly. Archon provides a little of that back, but it’s nowhere near as strong as it used to be. I’d gladly give up PI to use it solely on myself if it meant gaining a battle resurrection or interrupt.

Anecdotal, but my wife who hates PVP as a rule really enjoyed Plunderstorm. Lightning in a bottle, I guess?

This fact alone destroys that guy’s claim. Only trolls or idiots ignore objective reality to push a toxic positiviy agenda. Every class forum has these garbage people. Ignore and move on.

Yeah I really don’t fret about it. Playing Holy in keys is actually miserable. If you’re doing that then they great for you but I play games to actually enjoy them and uh…Flash Heal spamming and begging DPS to defensive because I have no kit is NOT fun.

The answer is I stopped at 10s because I was having negative fun. Haven’t ran a key in…prolly a few weeks tbh. Keys are miserable on Holy. You feel so damn powerless.

Part of that is design in general. Healers on the whole feel like the most meaningless piece of mythic+ by an enormous margin and the most meaningless piece of the 5 man meta, especially compared to earlier versions of WOW. At least if you’re a class/spec with utility and a spellbook you can try to have some fun with it but the Lightweaving 2006 holy paladin simulator can f off lol.
