i cannot be the only one who thinks the entire Prey system is a waste of time? and that we probably lost Battle Pets and new flying races because of it.
Tell me what i am missing with the Prey system and what you like or hate about it.

I like that it exists as a complement to World Quests. It’s something you can do at the same time that makes that form of content slightly more engaging. That’s cool. I like it.
However, Nightmare Mode gets messy.
I actually enjoy it in a vacuum. But doing Nightmare basically eliminates the overlapping activities of doing World Quests, because the longer you take, the harder it gets, and the more chances to die you give yourself, the more likely you’re starting that Hunt over entirely.
So Nightmare bring it back to being it’s own activity and not a complement to World Questing, IMO, which removes a part of why I thought it was cool in the first place.
That, and none of this actually mattered as soon as the season actually started and people could farm Delves and M+ for gear instead of World Content.
Prey is only interesting if you’re doing that content anyway.
Once the incentive to do that content no long exists, Prey is useless.
It would have been interesting for casual / solo players in a world without Delves, but we have Delves, so that takes the slot for progression content at that level.

Well, I don’t like the fact you can’t buy the weapon appearances.
Also unless you’re specifically going after the champion gear or specifically trying to mine out the weapon appearances the lower level ones are just more rewarding.

I was on one of the first servers for WOW and it was PVP and questing had a whole different dimension to it i.e. ambushed while trying to complete them. Having said that it in itself became a game of fun and a honing of skill and basic reflexes and mental ingenuity as you outwitted your opponents. The PVP since then changed and I do not find it enjoyable. Highly skilled players simply wipe out those trying to get into the game.
What does this have to do with prey? Simple! It takes the elite PVPers with mega gearing out of PVP and lets you enjoy the same game of wits and skill in a solo event in the real world and makes a darn good display in my hunter’s trophy rooms! As I am 70 and miss the old days of PVP this is enjoyable yet still challenging to all my faculties to complete.

Totally love that they added it too for that nostalgia touch. I really wish old pvp servers were what they used to be, definitely some of the most fun I’ve ever had in this game was when world PvP was at its peak.

Yeah, the nerf to trap spawn rates is quite the drag turning something fun and quick into something un-fun and tedious. I pretty much stopped engaging with it as I outgrew Champion gear anyway, but I might not bother running my alts through it given the trap spawn-rate nerf.

I certainly utilise prey more than I do battle pets 
so maybe they made the right decision.

My only nit with the Prey system is that if you die in Nightmare mode, it’s a complete reset.
It’s also one of the few systems, ,particularly solo systems, that requires you to prosecute actively and fully. The only way out of it is to hearth, or fly out and hope you don’t get the DoT on your way out of the zone.
I would like to be able to do it in 10m though, mine take longer.

It serves as a way to make open world content a little more interesting, makes coffer key gathering a little more rewarding and gives an additional way to get hero vault slots. I think prey meshes well with the delve/open world ecosystem and am glad its here.

It’s a nice complement to delves, adds good variety to world content.
Kinda makes coffer keys obsolete even faster though, maybe those don’t need to exist at all anymore.

World PvE and Renown farming used to be a complete snoozefest. Prey made it tolerable and more efficient.
You do NM Prey while farming World PvE, Renown, and gathering nodes, then you get 100 Coffer Key shards afterward. After that, you run Tier 11 Delves.
So now you already got rewards from the zone itself while also covering:
… 1x Tier 8 (NM Prey)
… 1x Tier 11 Delve
Do that in all 4 zones and you practically fill your entire Vault with guaranteed Hero-track gear progress.
You dont need 8x Delves anymore. 4xNM Prey and 4x T8/T11 Delves would suffice. Also, Ritual Tier 4 and Tier 5 (T13 Vault Loot - Heroic) as alternate.
Of course, if you can do straight KSL/KSH Mythic+ and Heroic Raid, you dont need Delves and Prey. It’s not for you.

I really like the prey system as its own minigame/quest style thing, but I think I’d find it really annoying if I turned it on then did other stuff honestly.
As bad as it is, it is WAY better than these invasion things.
It’s okay as a means of getting tmogs and mounts, but that’s it.
It takes ENTIRELY way too long because you can’t kill multiple preys at the same time.

Well that and blzzard mentioning flight again some weeks back killed my labido for the game for a while anyway.

Same with Rootwalking …“similar to dark iron mole machine”…lmao…rootwalking is NOTHING like the mole machine, not even in the same universe.
RWing is far worse than the Druid dreamway.
If it werent for the haradir druid forms I wouldnt have rolled one at all.
They really need to have an unbiased person write up the feature descriptions and be honest about them.
The Prey thing sounded like something very different from whats been complained about it in here.
Races and battle pets were stupid. Prey gets far more use and is way more practical for solo’ists. It’s also going to be the test bed for heroic world tier.

i enjoy Prey a lot more than I (didn’t) enjoy battle pets. There are all kinds of free phone games that are basically battle pets.
I find all the complaining on these forums so tiresome. You people don’t know how to be grateful for what you’ve got.
