Probably a controversial thought here, but I think once an expansion moves on, all of the group requiring mechanics (quests, certain rares that require others to summon, etc), as well as dungeons and raids should be made entirely soloable.
It would provide a game for people like me who are solo minded, and we can stay out of everyone’s way while everyone else is doing all the group stuff in the present day expansion. I don’t think it would hurt anyone.
If previous expansions aren’t “relevant content”, why not?
Before my sub expires in a couple days, I spent the last month essentially doing that with a level 45 locked chromie time character, but it would have been cool to do the dungeons and raids by myself in them too.
I don’t understand it either especially Legion content. I kind of get BFA content because it was just recently released and probably not meant to be soloed until about now in the final patch of this expansion.
Still there are those of us who live outside the end game content (I do current content just not on a high level) and I enjoy seeing all the old world stuff.
Maybe once a person reaches level 60 for the current expansion and reaches the base item level required for entry into mythic zero then the old world scaling and stuff needs to just be completely negated.
For sure, in particular I’m thinking of that one doomlord guy all the way in the back of Antoran Wastes that requires others to summon. What’s the purpose of keeping him like that in this day?
It should just be soloable to everyone if it’s content in a previous expac, full stop.
I’m not against a ‘solo’ option, but there are pleanty of us out there that level thru old dungeons and I would hate to loose that activity to purely solo game play.
The open world in old content couldn’t get any easier, with maybe the exception of a few rares and world bosses.
They kind of screwed that up by removing group finder before level 50, which makes them essentially meaningless, so I’d have no issue there,
Raids are the wild card for me. They are essential to the prior xpac story, so they should be accessible in some form at lower levels - when your actually in that content.
I guess I’m just on the opposite end of the spectrum here. I’d rather see all that old content be playable in a challenging and accessible way at max level. The idea of one shotting old content is a snooze to me. It just seems like wasted potential. Almost 20 years of content, but all of is made meaningless every 2 years, so (transmog and mounts aside) why bother?
Been the opposite for me, my level 45 locked chromie time character never sees a dungeon queue pop. I still don’t even know how to make it so that he can queue for the old school style dungeons (deadmines, etc).
My guy was flying around Uldum earlier and found a really tough rare that he couldn’t solo, and I just think it would be cool if he could.
I’m not the one who decided that all previous expac content is irrelevant, but as long as it is, why not just open it up for everyone? I’ll stay locked at 45 forever and out of everyone’s way if that can be the case.
It is very hard to get dev time on old expansions, most of the current dev time is spent on raids and mythic+ content since the 1% of the entire player base is somehow more important than the majority that like casual content and PVP. it’s like game design in reverse.
Yeah, chromie time kind of killed queues for leveling characters in a lot of ways. The BC, Wrath, WoD and BoA queues pop pretty regular, but anything else is a crap shoot.
Change chromie time to “cataclysm”. You can use the drop down in the dungeon finder to select the dungeons you want to run. Choose specific - then you get a list.
The best bet for dungeon queues is weekends and late night - esp the older ones.
If your not tanking or healing though sometimes it’s a long wait.
Imo while I’m not opposed to us eventually outleveling things to the point they’re trivial, the idea that just because somethings not current content = bulldozing time doesn’t sit well with me. Seems to have made a mentality that if something isn’t expliclity supposed to be hard that it should just be something you can /autorun and slap whatever easy damage button through and i’m not a fan of that, not one bit.
Why though? If I’m off picking off the scraps you guys left in BfA or SL, while you guys are off enjoying Empire of Dragons or Sylvanas’ Reign or whatever the next expansion will be, how does it affect you?
What expansion were you doing? I have always had queues pop except in really odd hours.
A lot of elites have been made much harder for players in Chromie time. The timeless isle is an example of this.
Do you want challenging, or do you want accessible? The two are opposing each other. What is challenging for the best players looking for challenge is inaccessible for average players.
Ion has told us it is not fun to zerg old content, and thus it was necessary to make sure it didn’t get easier except with certain conditions.
I’d just love chromie time at max level. That would solve 99% of my issues with how old content was handled… both accessible at max level and more challenging than 1 shotting half the zone with 1 button.
