(Reposted with my evoker, bare with me, i never use the forums.)
A little backstory. I have been playing aug almost since it came out. Clearing 9/9m, sitting like 3.2k io. Nothing amazing but doing most content. I’m making this post in hopes of preventing the rwf “abuse” causing a quick nerf reaction. In the current iteration of augmentation, we can stack up to 4 ebon might’s on the same 4 people. To pull this off, it is very toxic for raiding, requiring the other 12 people to leave the instance and summoning them every pull. Every rwf comes down to them looking for the last couple %, which this strategy will just have to be used to squeeze out the dps and will completely destroy what’s left of the community perception of the spec.
So the issues I’d like to see fixed:
-The rest of the hooks finished. WCL has a list: (https://discord.com/channels/180033360939319296/687319213127237663/1134481827009146900) This was addressed almost weekly for a bit, and seems to of stopped.
-Ebon might stacking up to 4 times.
-Ebon might can be applied to another aug when they have their ebon might ( spell id: 395296)
-Ebon might cast time/ prescience buff.
My proposal:
Only let ebon might be applied once, INCUDING other augs when they have their ebon might.
This will prevent a lot of the toxicity in stacking augs and causing like a 3 minute pull timer for groups truly min/maxing. The second half of not allowing ebon might to apply to other augs when they have their ebon might is super frustrating when trying to position away from other augs when casting ebon might. I think this is more a bug based on how ebon might is supposed to not favor others with ebon might, but the self-applied spell id is different than the ebon might spell id given from a different person. There is a downside to this for augs, the value of the first aug will be significantly higher than the 2nd and 3rd as they will get less and less value, which I think is the happy middle ground for how the spec is built.
This is a 1 or the other option:
Remove prescience cooldown and only let us buff up to 4 targets at one time. This turns prescience into a buff management rather than mashing it on cd. This will promote a healthier rotation, when your planned prescience target moves out of range before you cast, you don’t get a random prescience target, which is further hurt by your ebon might if its coming off cd. This also removes the proximity factor of ebon might of the 3rd and 4th targets which can be very volatile when trying to plan out due to the cast time of ebon might and the amount of movement always happening mid pull. To me this is the best change to put the as much of the execution of the player as possible in the players hands. You dictate the 4 people every ebon might gets, without getting stepped onto by others and ruining your ebon might value.
The other option is to remove the cast time of ebon might and leave prescience alone. The amount of times I rescue someone onto someone else to be my 3rd and 4th buff targets, immediately cast ebon might, and manage to not hit either of them with ebon might is very frustrating. I shouldn’t expect my raid to position around me, and I don’t ask them to. If ebon might was instant cast this would prevent the ~2 seconds of movement from the raid after my rescue cast to randomize my ebon might targets.
Thanks if you made it this far. I enjoy the spec and all the prep you can do in your raid to min/max all your buffs and I think with some minor tweaks the community will start to embrace it. I honestly do think if its current iteration makes it to RWF, pitchforks will start coming out to the toxicity of what’s required to min/max this spec.
