Prevent PvE gear being worn in Rated PvP

Hi Blizz… if anyone’s out there reading this, can we please disable the means for PvErs to queue for rated PvP content while wearing PvE gear.

Was in a Blitz where a hunter on our team was in complete PvE gear of around 613ilvl, and doing about the same amount of damage as myself as a healer.

This cost us the match, and can be easily prevented by disabling the means to equip PvE items while in queue, and/or prevent the means to queue rated PvP content while wearing PvE items.

Now giving him the benefit that he forgot to equip his PvP gear, a whoopsie like this in casual isn’t so much of an issue since there are more players in the team to compensate, and it’s non-rated so losing doesnt carry any consequences.

But in rated, this needs to be addressed please.

at 613 their ilvl is over the crafted pvp gear ilvl(606)……are you saying only gear with vers is pvp gear?

Crafted PvP gear shouldnt be allowed in rated pvp either given how low the ilvl is compared to honor and conquest.

Versatility is an important stat, though in addition it’s the trinket bonus as well that makes a difference.

What are you talking about? You do realize you can craft the highest quality, yeah? I’ve got several crafted pieces that are highest quality purples, 639 in PvP settings.

Obviously I was referring to crafted 606 gear as per my response to the previous post… and not the gear that brings the ilvl up to 639

No, it wasn’t obvious.

The highest quality Crafted PvP gear is 610, and scales to 639 in PvP. So that’s higher than the PvE gear being mentioned.

This is now become an argument over reading comprehension.

It’s obvious by the fact that I drew a comparison of the lowest crafted PvP gear (mentioned in the previous post) to the ilvl difference between that and honor and conquest gear…

Clearly this excludes crafted gear that scales up to 639 (as that would match conquest gear ilvl scaled)

you’re queueing at starting mmr what do you expect

the gatekeeping is strong with this one

If you notice players wearing pve gears in Blitz, it likely means the game’s MMR is quite low or everyone is at the starting MMR.

But why complain about it? Seeing others wear pve gears actually works in your favor. Think about it, if all 15 of the other players in the game are using pve gear and you’re in full conquest pvp gears, you’ll have a great opportunity to carry your team to a winning streak.

Yes, in a specific game it may not be ideal if your teammates wear pve gears, but statistically, you actually benefit from players using pve gears in rated pvp scenaios, as long as you’re equipped with pvp gears.

Personally, I struggled in the 1500 to 1700 Blitz bracket, but I eventually pushed through. Not because of my own skills, but because the opposing teams were too random, for example, sometimes they were filled with players in pve gears.

Here is an idea, pvp item level exists. Why not have rated pvp require what is offered from just a full honor set? Many would be above that in 2 days time for an alt if they got one piece of conquest from non-rated and a piece from world pvp as both are higher item level than Honor gear.

I dont care if my teammates have Mythic raid gear, or the highest M+ gear as I dont inspect people and how they perform matters most, but having gear helps. What is noticeable, when a player in rated content has 4k health. If that 4k health player is on the opposing team I rejoice. If they are on my team they are a liability. Knowing that isn’t gatekeeping, it is the situation. I’m not going to tell a teammate they aren’t geared enough or not geared at all, thats not my place in solo queue content, but I might notice the low healthpool. Blizzard had the option to raise the pvp item level requirement for rated pvp after conquest was uncapped and folks main characters were BiS geared. I’m ok with it being Blizzards perogative, just seems like an odd choice.
