I’m sure I’m not alone in that I find leveling enjoyable. However, we don’t have an unlimited amount of character slots, so there is inevitably a point where one can no longer do more leveling unless they delete a character. Deleting characters, however, shouldn’t be a requirement as there are better solutions.
Increasing character slots to infinity obviously isn’t viable as it takes more and more data to house those characters which therefore costs more money for Blizzard.
There are many ways I’d like to see Chromie Time revamped, but I’ll start with just proposing this one. Let us choose to relevel an existing character, as a prestige system. You speak to Chromie and she sends you back in time to your chosen timeline and you get to level all over again.
You could either have this decision be permanent where you have reach max level again to return to the present, or perhaps you can allow the player to travel back and forth between past and present similar to PvP Mode. A level 70 finishes their raid night, then can return to making more progress on their “Prestige track” on the same character over the weekend, before hopping back out to open their Great Vault on reset, then returns again to pick up where they left off.
Ideally when they finish reaching max again “in the past”, they would also not get automatically kicked out. It would be neat if they could stay in the past for as long as they choose, and perhaps could do that expansions abandoned content at a similar difficulty like it used to be. That’s not the main ask though, I’d primarily just like to repeat leveling on the same toon(s) without making multiple.
Rewards aren’t necessary, but you could easily provide cosmetic armor, pet, and mount rewards to people that reach higher “Prestige Levels” too.
