Pressing spells

i have a small issue… not sure when it happened or how… but when i use a spell, and i press a key… it doesnt go off till i release they key… i could swore it casted when i just pressed it… but now only goes off when i unpress the key.
maybe im just dumb and it was always like that…

At the start of pre patch, moving spells would use them… now it doesnt… but if i press a sprell… it wont go off until i release the key, or release the click… did i change something or…

It’s always been like that unless you had some kind of an add-on that changed it. You can also make macros that activate on key press.

hmm… it feels super weird… i dont know if i got rid of addons… but key presses were going off before releasing it

It used to be an option in interface options under combat. Doesn’t seem to be there now.

FWIW, on my end its defaulting to casting on keydown, not release. Actionbar addons like Bartender have this option in their settings too, so if you’re running something like that, it might be worth checking to see if you’ve enabled action on key release somewhere in there. Personally, I have all addons disabled atm, so my experience should be the default.

Until you figure out a better solution, type this in chat (case sensitive):

/console ActionButtonUseKeyDown 1

1 = action on key down
0 = action on key release

Mine were set to on release before prepatch, through the old interface, not through bartender. So this whole week has been effing me up because spells have been casting on press instead of release.
I haven’t been able to find anything until your comment. I tested it once here and it works, hopefully it’s not a console command I have to do on all my characters, and hopefully it doesn’t reset when I shut the game down.

Pretty backwards to have it set to what I didn’t want it on in new UI, then taking the toggle out of the game…

They added it as an interface option awhile back now. The changes must have either neglected to add it back in, or interfered with it for some reason.
