Preservation Evoker Recent Changes

Hello,

My name is Zelrus and the evoker has been my main since they came out. I first want to say I love this class and the unique play style it has to offer. It has been a pillar for my day when I login and get to play this class until recently.

There was a change made to the temporal build that has impacted my love for this class. Reducing the ecos from 5 to 3 in my opinion was a bad move.

Reason 1: I enjoyed having more reliable aoe healing for the group on the account I didn’t have massive single target healing such as a paladin unless I paired echo with embrace.

Reason 2: the limited range is difficult to begin with, but I was always happy to spend 1 extra global to make sure the range player outside of my temporal was also getting healing.

Reason 3: I felt it was a nice staple point that evoker could hit 5 targets with echos and dream breath to really get decent healing out there. I am watching people die when I have to spend time looking for who does not have the two echos and now spend two globals for setup and then I can heal. It feels really awkward. I rather have less single target healing and continue to work around the range mechanics if I can use temporal to hit 5 players and press an empowered ability to heal people.

Anyway, I really hope other feel similar and this gets looked at because I felt it really took away from something I loved about this class. Of course I don’t want a class to be brain dead and have interesting mechanics, but evoker in my opinion already had that by choosing how you were going to use your echos. Now it feels there is way to much setup before one can heal and it has made things feel awkward. I hate watching people die to me having to spend so much time setting up. It might be time to join the hype augmentation train.

I wish when they make changes like that they would at least buff something else.
It’s a little frustrating to constantly have one side of our tree get gutted for little to no reason. The last time they nerfed TA they rebuffed it because it just felt awkward as hell to use when it left someone in a dungeon group without echo.

I feel like if they wanted to seriously balance TA they would let it stay at 5 echoes, but nerf the amount those echoes are worth. Maybe make the shield give a little bit less idk. Literally just another case of Blizzard going “Play this way or don’t play at all” .

Switch to the 5 sec cd reduction instead, use the TA after using DB or EB or both. Pair the reduction cd with the EB 10 sec reduction perk for potent total 15 sec cd reductions.

The mana cost for TA no longer feels worth it for 3 targets…

Yes! To all your comments and suggestions! I don’t mind if they mess with it a bit, but come on please don’t reduce targets when we have other limitations at the moment.

I also agree that the mana cost is a little unrealistic with the lesser targets. Thank you all for the support and hearing my thoughts on this matter.

Yeah I forgot that it costed a ton of mana. Rashok’s has spoiled me. Man thats insane.

If it provided stronger echos i’d say it’s more worth it.

I feel that way too. I almost wish they had done that and not just reduce the amount of echoes it provides.

spending 18k mana for a <30k absorb skillshot that has a soft 5 target cap is such a joke

Do it like me and just cancel the subscription.

I played Pres since it was out was one of the eagerest Players to defend the Prevoker against the 3 Echo Nerf in 10.0.7 oly just to see how were gutted again and again.

What’s left is a healerspecc with 30% less range than every other, same or less throughout after all the nerfs.

I reached a point where I don’t care anymore. Why investing time and energy for giving feedback if Blizzard gives a crap about players. Honestly I’m so over theyr balance mess.
The Godcomp in the last patch gave me the final shot just to stop me throwing money at their faces.

I liked the game. But adapting every 2 weeks to a balance mess it’s a thing I’m just getting to old for this.

Over and out

I hear all your concerns and suggestions for sure. It is painful, and my hope is this post creates enough traction for blizzard to take notice.

It’s not that we are against changing things for balance purposes, but don’t change something so good for the spec without thinking about the functionality. I’m okay having a longer cool down, increase mana cost or less effective echo’s if that means the targets can stay at 5. It’s already a skill shot with high mana cost and little to no impactful shield.

I hope we are heard and changes are made for the better.

If you are blizzard and you are reading this I want to say thank you in general for the work you all put in. Please consider improving this functionality.

I returned at the start of the expansion (was playing Classic) just because of the Evoker. I only played for a bit before making a very long move and only recently returned. Finally started doing Mythic dungeons and really love playing my Evoker.

I love the play style of the class and honestly I like the range limit. Makes it more challenging to play and forces me to really think about what I am doing. I had a feeling it would get nerfed, was just way to powerful. With Echo on every person (which was super simple) I could every 20 seconds (30 seconds if you don’t take the talent) fire off a Spirtbloom and take the entire party from near death to full health (tank being the exemption but they would have 3/4 health anyways). There is no other class with that type of burst healing and being able to do it every 20-30 seconds is crazy. That is not the only crazy healing burst we have. Can do the Echo and Lifebind trick every 24 seconds, which is another crazy amount of healing when combined with say Dream Breath.

I can still do this, just takes a bit more setup time. It did need to be changed. Not sure this was the correct way to go about it. Yes, it has required me to make some changes in how I heal and it is more challenging.

Yeah I gave up, this patch im playing druid since flight form is available. Was my main in shadowland. Probably best to wait war within and see what they do with evoker then. They ve been experimenting a lot and I think they have too much difficulty balancing the class so they keep nerfing again and again… which is unpleasant.
There are also basic stuff that we dont understand, like limited transmog or limited soar ability.

TA has been made to feel awful so the new tier set bonuses can exist and not feel underwhelming. Which is a terrible way to handle it.
