Preservation dispell

So I’ve been leveling preservation and got to level 70. I’ve been doing dungeons along the way, and I swear I can’t dispell ANYTHING. The only time I can is with my 60 second cd (cauterize flames I think?) nothing else can be dispelled. Is this a me issue, or preservation evoker in general, or the dungeon mechanics? I use decursive and with all my other healers I’ve never had an issue. But now all of a sudden I just can’t dispell almost anything. Just want to know if it’s me or all of us struggling :joy:

You’re trying to dispel things that we can’t most likely. Only magic and poison is dispeled with ours. Everything else you need to use cauterize on

Right, but there hasn’t been a single thing I can dispell outside of using cauterize. Is that normal? I mean I am not joking when I say there is nothing else I can dispell. I am 100% talented into our dispell, and yet I’m never able to use it. I just don’t know if it’s my addon or if others are unable to dispell anything else either. It’s confusing me as my other healers have never had this issue and are able to dispell all the time. Just don’t get why cauterize is the only thing that ever works for me

Idk, there’s a lot of magic debuffs in most of the dungeons, also uldaman and HoI have poisons.

I’m having kind of the opposite issue. For some reason when I pop over to my devastation evoker with talented Cauterizing Flame it won’t show all dispellable debuffs on my party frames. Only the ones I can dispel with the basic talent. Using Elvui, anyone have any insight into why this may be?

It doesn’t help that the dungeon with the most detrimental dot and frequently occurring dot is a disease.

I’m pretty sure you’re just missing magic debuffs you can dispel.

Evokers have two dispells.

Cauterizing flame. A 60 second one thar does poison, bleed, curse and disease.

Naturalize. A 8 second one that removes magic and poison.

Cauterize is a talent and naturalize we get automaticallt in the preservation spell book.

Make sure you use the correct one.

This is also a talent, it is just selected by default for Preservation, you can take it as Dev too. Last I checked though it only removed Poison. So I either missed that, or you’re lying, or it’s different between Dev and Pres. I generally don’t see any real use-case for this except perhaps outside of PvP, but the cooldown on Cauterize is kinda disgusting. It should be 30 seconds at MOST.

Literally says magic.

I see… I mistook it for Expunge which is a Poison cleanse talent that both Devastation and Preservation can have. Naturalize appears to be Preservation only and includes Magic.

I don’t like it when classes have multiple cleanse abilities, just roll them all in to 1, have talents that improve them if necessary. This is a good example of the “multiple spells that do the same thing” that I was talking about in other posts where people seem to think there’s no duplication in the class…

Why do we need 3 poison dispels? It’s ridiculous.

If Expunge is the default ability for Preservation, then Naturalize should just be a talent to add Magic to it, and Cauterize should be a talent to add curse and disease to it, rather than having 3 separate abilities.

The magic dispel element of Naturalize (our commonly used dispel) is intended to be available to our heal spec only, as it is common with most other classes that run with heals/dispels.

It’s also extremely uncommon that a single character can dispel all magic, poisons, diseases, bleeds and curses, while the ability to dispel magic (and one other) is the standard.
