I feel like this is something Blizz should have honestly waited on till they gauged how they community felt about the event. Are there some out there who like it? Yes. But there are also some out there who have very strong negative feelings on this matter. And throwing an E-sports tournament out there for content creators, which is not gonna help people’s opinions on this, is really gonna look bad. And on top of that you invite one of the most divisive toxic streamers known to the community to participate? Asmontroll? Really? This is going to catch a lot of backlash.

Because they’re trying to force this to be The Next Big Thing. Merch on day 1 before the servers were even up? A tournament with a cash prize announced on day 3? This isn’t some one-off event they’re doing just for the metrics (although don’t think for a moment that’s not a huge part of it.) They’re clearly going to attempt to make this its own thing, probably thinking they’re going to steal some thunder from Fortnite the same way they thought Heroes was going to steal everyone from LoL/DOTA 2. Probably have stage 2 with it being a standalone client separate from the retail WoW client already in the works.

Considering I have no doubt this caused quite a large number of unsubscribing. It might look good at the next one, but the one after that, Blizzard’s going to be in for a rude awakening.

I don’t know anything about this game, but I wonder if Blizzard opted to use a brand name IP (Warcraft) to branch out to another game format in an effort to have that recognition?
Hope it goes well for them and those that enjoy it. I’ve not tried it yet, but gives me an odd vibe. And, yeah, that’s an “all me” thing, for sure.

This game is about pvp. PvP is about competition. Let the best competitor win and not the most influencel one!
Now i understand there needs to be streamers promoting this to a bigger audience.
There should be seeds for streamers but also seeds for people who pass through a open qualifier-system.
The next 18 year old ninja doesnt even have a shot to show the world how much better he is than others - meanwhile genereting viwers.
You guys are mostly using the same creators that have been arround for a while - which is fine most of them are awesome, but u basicly always adress it to the same viewers/playerbase.
