Now that we’re getting some M+ experience, it feels like the gap between Chronowarden and Flameshaper is even more apparent.
Tuning aside, Chronowarden gives value constantly through Chrono Flame, short cd’s by adding value to all 3 empowers, and has a strong 2min cd in Tip the Scales. All of these are easy to access.
Flameshaper, on the other hand, has a lot of power in Engulf but not much else. On top of that, the power of Engulf and Consume Flame are hugely dependent on Dream Breath.
I’m curious how everyone else feels as they are starting to push into difficult keys. For me, Flameshaper is the start of a very fun tree but it doesn’t offer enough consistent value. I don’t really mind that Engulf needs to be set up with dream breath and as many hots as possible because comboing heals feels very on-brand for Evoker. Rather, it just feels like all of your eggs are in one basket and it needs to have the power spread out.
It should be blatantly apparent to everyone by now that hero trees are the definition of the illusion of choice.
It’s just sad they made flameshaper an illusion of choice for both specs that could use it.
It barely even looks like flameshaper got more than 10 minutes of the time of whoever master minded it.
I don’t think it’s that bad… Engulf feels great, really. Evoker has very, very limited spot healing so having such a powerful spot heal to complement a more hot-centric spec is awesome, I think.
There are some really silly oversights though. Why do flame traveler and flame consumption simultaneously increase and decrease the time of dream/flame breath? Why not change enkindle to 20% for dream blossom and 60% or more for echo? I get like 1% value from this in my echo builds.
Basically its chrono for m+ flameshaper for raid.
Realistically though its fake vhoice only time they had actual interesting options for classess was sl.

Flameshaper is a huge disappointment as a Hero talent.
Engurf alone is not enough to compete with Cronowarden or Scalecommander.
I don’t think I’ve seen a single Evoker using this talent yet, be it Devastation or Preservation.
Raid in mytgic they essentially only run engulf. Junk is very strong for raid.
hm weird, i seem to have seen RWF prevokers using cronowarden
Yeah I noticed everyone was doing flameshaper in top logs initially, and some didn’t even stasis engulfs, they just chucked one out for the AOE burst when they felt like it.
I studied liquids evoker just abusing Lifebind as his top heal, so Chrono is probably for reduced CDs, the defensive warp, and golden opportunity echos on himself.
Spam echoes on people and try to fish for a golden opportunity, temporal anomaly, verdant, echo self, spiritbloom self profit. He didnt build for reversion or lifespark, but I feel like lifespark/verdant echo chronoflames combo could burst harder.
I was thinking engulf would be perfect for that setup too though. Stack hots on self, echo engulf self with life bind.
On topic of Flameshaper though, I really feel like living flame needs to apply a 40% Enkindle, and Enkindle should apply to the spell that gets echoed not just echo itself.
Enkindle doubling talent should instead refresh all durations and increase amount by 20% or something.
