Prepatch Retail PvP is Unbearable

I am actually happy that Bliz enabled legacy mode for our tier sets on live Retail, yet I cannot fully understand why they would opt to keep Legendary bonuses & Covenant Abilities enabled in PvP zones (Arenas & BG’s).

With massive changes to talents and abilities it doesn’t give players who choose to PvP any value in experimenting with new builds with lego’s and active covenant abilities (not assigned in the talent trees) are still usable. We’re better off playing Beta exclusively to experiment with new talent trees at this point.

Can we please have the SL covenant (non-talented) abilities and lego bonuses disabled for PvP instances?

ive always been firmly against borrowed powers in pvp.

the only time it wasnt really separable was legion with the artifacts.

theres never been any reason to have azerite powers, legendary powers, corruptions, covenant abilities, heart of azeroth powers, etc to be present in pvp. these existing in pvp just skews the entire thing towards gear and time spent boosting your powers as opposed to skill and experience.

I think the game would have been worse without covenant abilities in PvP, only because half the classes would feel incomplete.

But with the new talent trees hopefully the all the specs feel good, without having some borrowed power.

Because we are still in shadowlands. Just Dragonflight talents and UI to get use to the game before Dragonflight drops. There is also no difference from grabbing the talent points in your tree for the covenant abilities.

Except some classes benefit from multiple covenant abilities. Demo lock got a ton of Demonbolt damage baked into the tree, but still gets Decimating Bolt.

90k Demonbolts, 70k incinerates, etc. are not intended interactions for Dragonflight but are ruining the game now and making it very unfun to queue.

Doesn’t help that Warlocks are also unkillable.

I hate to inform you that 150k+ incinerates continue to be a thing at max level.

I haven’t experienced that on Beta, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

I tried making a max incinerate damage build on beta and the highest I got on the pvp dummy (which receives 200% crits and has no dr from versa) was like 50k. Not sure what I could have done to increase them any more let alone by 3x. Not saying it’s impossible, but I couldn’t figure it out if it is.

I was thinking that Shadowlands’ pre-patch disabled both Corruption and Azerite, but after looking at some old screenshots Azerite abilities were still enabled for instanced PvP. They definitely turned off Corruption, though.

In this case, I think the new talent system warrants shutting down the whole shebang. Otherwise there’s zero value in feedback given during the next month! Surely Blizzard wouldn’t want to miss out on that!

I have low key given up trying to explain any of the numbers ive seen recently anymore. Maybe I was thinking of something else but pretty sure it was incinerate.

I was wrong, I just tested again and was able to hit 53k incinerates which would be like a 92k crit in PvP (barring versa and other dam reduction). So pretty chunky. Maybe there’s something I am missing for that extra oomph.

edit: just hit a 117k127k crit. Yeah it’s cranking.

honestly there are bigger fishes to fry, just to name a few

strike of the windlord + thunderfist combo

or for example this ret’s judgement dmg.

Ringing Clarity conduit wont be available in DF… at least that looks like level 60. Video quality is crap and im on my phone.

But I will agree that I have no idea why covenant stuff is still active.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see what happened. Divine Toll with chaining judgements with Army of the Dead up lol. Thats pretty funny

They have 300k+ hp, new dragonflight arena, it is definitely beta.

It’s okay I been playing my wind walker one shotting everything blame blizzard (:
