I was worried it would be the case but my 120gb ssd was not enough to hold windows and wow when you add prepatch
My ssd is built into the laptop so it can’t be replaced (as I just found out when I opened it up)
Fortunately it has a 1tb hdd that can be replaced.
So got a 1tb ssd arriving tomorrow.
Not sure what the point of this thread is other than ouch my wallet

Aren’t there external ssds?
Why not buy a cheap usb drive? Or an external drive? Better yet… you could have just done. yknow nothing and just dowload to the HDD
there are but I dont trust myself to not lose it or break it
I break all my wires by bending them
im not a masochist
Im not putting myself through those load times

I’m considering getting an external ssd if all these new games take so much space >.>
If i played primarily on PC instead of laptop I would have strongly considered one since the PC stays static
How bad do you think the load times will be with a hdd
Probably like 2 minutes to load a city lol. Who knows going into a dungeon >>
I remember playing on an hdd and once I finally loaded into a dungeon the rest of the group was on the second group of trash
After this patch, WoW now has an SSD all to it’s lonesome on my PC.
Definitely going to order a new SSD though, 2x 128’s doesn’t cut it anymore.
Does your laptop have a slot for an additional SSD?
I play on an hdd now and the initial load time is bad, but I never have problems with BGs or dungeons. I’m nervous for SL though
it might not mean anything but for quite a while it said an ssd was required
They changed it to say or hdd now

I tried that once on one of my older computers. I immediately deleted it and went hard looking for every spare kB I could find on my SSD.
Shove windows on the HDD and just run WoW off the SSD! Win 10 and WoW only take up 90 gig on my SSD.
I mean, an SSD isn’t technically required. You can (and will still be able to) boot up WoW on a HDD in both BFA and SL.
It’s just…Why would you want to?
SSD’s are cheap enough per GB that they’re no longer the domain of just your OS, you can, and probably should, have most of your frequently used games on an SSD. Especially ones with an otherwise long loading time.
If I were building my PC today, no way I wouldn’t include at least a 1TB SSD in the build.

Moving windows to the hdd was the original plan but I couldn’t work out a way to do it without losing all my files
Oh it’s just like transferring the OS from one PC to another. They also make migration tools that do the heavy lifting for you. But you said you already bought the new drive so likely a moot point now.
Thats crazy that your ssd isnt replacable.
For work and just from working on my own systems ive worked on toshiba dell sony hp ibm panasonic and lenovo , among others ranging from model years 98 to 2020.
Never had a storage drive i couldnt replace (leaving out optical drives).
That sucks.
First login is slow but other than that it’s fine.
