Prepatch encourages(requires) non-participation

The severe gear deficiencies you end up at if you level through the prepatch event means the “correct” way to play is to just afk in the sky and fly in to get credit at the last second.
Even flying in at the last second can still end up with you dead against a few of the elites.

Not only is the item level 100+ item levels too low at the majority of character levels, but the gear also drops too infrequently for it to even matter if the item level was proper.

Two examples, not 100% accurate but close enough.
Use gear update on level 63, get a full set of 330il gear. Prepatch on that same character gives 250il gear.

Use gear update on a level 40, get a full set of 220il gear. Prepatch on that same character giving 45il gear.

Both the frequency of gear drops and the item levels of those drops needs to be looked at.

agreed. I would love to help. but even with FULL boa gear i get my butt handed to me vs 1 mob. pull 2 mobs which is quite frequent and youre just dead. and the blues that drop are like item lvl 48 when my boa gear is ilvl 128 +

The harder and more of a grind they make it the more everyone just calls it in. More so if you have already done it a few times. Even more so if you remember the actual things they are trying to make you remember and find it boring. Would have much preferred something new instead of a rehash of old content painted blue.

I actually do not want to help, if I can afk I want to afk. With that being said, even I can see that there are serious issues with the gear you get from the event.

These same issues are also happening in dungeons right now, you level too quickly and eventually fall so far behind on gear that you can’t really contribute anything anymore towards the tail end of leveling.

Basically all end-game open world events in Dragonflight, innit mate

I just did this event to get rid of the last Adventurer track pieces I had. I do enough damage now to where I can just go get gear from +5s.

I also just afk next to the Ony/LK/Rag spawn and then start dpsing when they spawn. I’m still participating, just not in the minor memories.

Well, as long as they make them as repetitive and grindy as they seem to keep doing… yeah. Time Rifts, Surges, and the Digs are so repetitive and grindy that they eventually make you want to put in as little effort as possible.

They can not make anything that remains fun for their entire required grind duration, eventually you just swap over to the maximum effort to reward ratio. If you can put in 20% of the effort and get 80% of the reward why would you ever put in the other 80%.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

You’ll be 70 in 45 minutes or less and have enough currency to be mostly 480 pieces in a few hours. No point in worrying about the extremely brief period in between.

maybe 60-70 in 45 yeah. 1-70? yeah no lol

if you’re not going to actively participate, then why does gear even matter?

just take your free levels and go gear somewhere else.

Eh? I’ve leveled two characters through this event without gear issues.

The problem becomes worse the lower your starting level is. Just because it is transient does not mean it should be ignored.

I am just pointing out that there is an issue that I have noticed even as someone that does as little participation as possible, there are other people who actually would like to be able to contribute.

Oh no…

they can do some regular quests in between the waiting around, and get some updated gear.
the rest of the game didn’t stop existing

I’m just confused how people aren’t getting updated gear. I took a level 50 and a level 18 through for a while. I was getting gear tossed in my bags as I did the mini events. I just followed around and helped others without pulling aggro. I died a couple of times when I got overconfident, but otherwise, it was fine.

Maybe if people would stop AFKing the mini events on lowbies, they wouldn’t be missing out on gear.

the gear i’ve been getting, is 100+ ilvls LOWER than the already outdated items i’m using

i participate because i want to tag as much stuff as possible, for max xp.

rewards are very few and far between.

All of mine yesterday was way higher than what I had. Everything was continually an upgrade. Unless something broke today. :dracthyr_shrug:

it’s not recent

it’s been ongoing since the start of the event.
the same thing happened with the last pre-launch event.

item levels were way too low

i don’t care enough to care… but people who want usable gear probably care.
i can hit 70 and go do some “non combat” quests for gear rewards

Wait. Are we talking about the vendor gear or the lowbie gear?

Because leveling lowbie was constant upgrades. It kept upgrading and I didn’t use heirlooms.

The vendor gear at 70 is fine for open world, imo. We get 3 or 4 of the 493 champ pieces and you can start leveling in War Within at like 350ish ilevel and own things in the face.

But I’m not arguing about the level 70 gear. I’m just saying my lowbies had no issues getting gear as they leveled and keeping up.

talking about the lowbie gear

i thought i’d taken some screenshots, but i just looked and can’t find any.
i don’t use heirlooms other than rings/trinkets/neck, and i rarely even bother with those

maybe your lowbies were already in junk gear?

there are some big item level jumps in between various expansions
