Preparing for Lvl 50+

Hi all,

So I never made it to 50+ back in Vanilla (was too distracted aimlessly wandering in STV lol!) - what are some things I can do to be better prepared for my first raid? Also, are there any universal end-game quests I should be sure to complete in order to reach full end game potential?

Hope my question makes sense, thanks for your time.

If being prepared for raids at 60 is your number one goal, start spamming BRD at around 55 and strat/scholo at around 58. You may need a group of friends (or just one tank friend) this late in the game as everyone will expect you to be 60 for those dungeons.

Also, start the Onyxia chain around 52 or 53.

Thanks for the reply - I am not sure what other end game goals there are for Classic, but completing PvE content is my first priority for sure, followed by exploring the world of BGs/PVP. I’ve got a fairly well established guild with 1-2 raid groups, so I’ll be sure to start spamming BRD at 55, Strat/Scholo at 58! Thanks!

It’ll also help to know what pieces you’re going after and what bosses drop them. There are countless gear guides out there, each slightly different from the last. My recommendation is to check them all out, compare and contrast, and then make decisions based on your own personal playstyle.

Just as a random example, one guide might say the gladiator chain (epic drop in BRD) is BiS, but if you’re not willing to put in the time to farm that, go find the second best and see where that drops.

Do a google search for your Pre-Raid BiS list so you know which dungeons to focus on to get yourself fully raid ready. MC is a bit of a joke so don’t take it too seriously. Knew a guy who wanted to be all pre-raid BIS before stepping foot into MC/Ony. He is just now all ready, meanwhile I went in with only some of my BiS, and have MC epics already because the place is so easy.

Farm AV rep for the cheaper mount. Check the quest of end level, some items are pre bis.

In dreams is a good quest for dps and tank.

General Drakkisath’s Demise reward a good dps trinket

Kirtonos the Herald A quest of scholo give a good dps off hand and there is a long chain quest from that ( The Lich, Ras Frostwhisper) that reward a good tank dagger.

The trinket of AV can be decent for tanking I assume, its 2% dodge and some HP5

Do the attunement with MC and ONY quest chain.

In mid-50s, start dungeon grinding for BiS (depending on what role/spec you want to raid as) and work towards getting the Ony/MC attunements done.
There are a few quests that can actually reward you with good pre-raid gear. I’d look up your BiS list for whichever spec you’re going into and check the optional gear pieces. Many of them come from quests during the 50s

Love the perspective, thanks!

I don’t care about being #1 MINMAXMASTA. I’m really looking forward to trying out AV for my first time!!! Time to learn all about this beast that is BG PVP/Farming Honor!

Edit: Guildies suggest rolling Arms end game, I’d like to go Fury personally.

Ordos is right, you don’t need to spend weeks trying to get every single little BiS piece when it’s only a slight upgrade from what you have.
If you could just get a few pre-raid BiS items and know what you’re doing in the raid, you’ll outperform the fully decked out moron who died because he was standing in fire.

And play Fury if you want. The elitist guilds aren’t many, and most others don’t care what spec you play as long as you’re doing your best.

Definitely make sure you do the Tirion Fordring questline in WPL to get your BIS necklace, there is a questline that starts with an item that drops off the last boss in LBRS (do this then UBRS to get an amazing DPS trinket, Blackhand’s Breadth), and if you are planning on going DW Fury or need a good 1h Sword then make sure you do the questline in Scholomance that rewards Mirahs Song (awesome 1h sword).

Other then that just enjoy the journey into a new chapter of your WoW adventures!

PS - START ONY ATTUNEMENT AS SOON AS YOU CAN! You will thank yourself if you can start running Ony at 60!

If you plan to raid.

Make sure you pick up and complete the “Dragonkin Menace” Quest at Morgans Vigil in Burning Steppes. This starts the onyxia attunement chain. This is a chain you can start at 48+ and the final quest is a 10 man raid in UBRS

At 55+ make a run to Duke Hydraxis in Azshara to pick up his two quests to get the chain started to unlock the item to summon ragnaros.

Also at 55 you can get the MC attunement quest from the blood elf outside of BRD.

If you ever die in BRD make sure you run through the suspended rock in black rock mountain on your way back to the instance, there is a ghost in there that gives you a quest for the key to unlock the majority of BRD.

I hear Fury gets sexy AF with AQ/Naxx gear.

EDIT: Try to prioritize +hit gear 1st from dungeons

THANK YOU - Can’t wait to start my raid gear journey! Also, these lvl 40+ quests are nice and juicy, loving the content ( I used to farm dungeons up to lvl 40 and burn out, so glad I pivoted to questlines as my primary leveling source).

TY for the tip on BRD key tip! Excited to run that dungeon for my first time
