I fully believe that players loved RDF when it first came out. I certainly did.
People love shiny new features that make the game easy. We’re seeing it now in prepatch. Difference being that prepatch ends at some point, as it needs to, so we don’t end up with a stupid easy and boring experience.
Players didn’t start to see the detrimental effects of RDF en masse until they’d sat with it for a while. Notice Blizzard started to lose credibility not too long after – obviously Activision had a huge hand in that as well.

I loved the idea of rdf when it was implemented. it was still a bad idea.

I don’t think it’s possible to prove, it’s a matter of old sentiment. It’s pretty easy to extrapolate by the sub counts, and all the sentiment we’re hearing from the devs now about how RDF was “the start of the degradation of some of that social fabric” – to quote the announcement trailer for Wrath Classic.

I like the fact of the instant porting to dungeons.

Snide remarks that don’t actually have a point other than to be snide bores me to death tho. Mark of a dumb person who can’t make well reasoned arguments.
I never met a wow player that plays since Wrath ever say that they regret RDF being added.
It was the best thing to add to the game and put us on pair with PvP for queuing.
As a tank I got insta queue and got to meet a lot people back then. I would certainly not play at all the game if they decided to not add it.
