Not until a very rare drop and even then you’ll still pair the two together if you need a ton of mana.
BTW Gearscore does exist for TBC. Outside of a few pieces TBC is pretty linear (weapons, armor, tend to be pretty linear, only trinkets can be wonky)

But this stuff and more happened in OG wrath before RDF was introduced.
Clearly people do not remember the regular forum complaints about being denied entry to groups because of “Gearscore” and people having no bloody idea what it was because it was a third party site, and there was no indication in game for it (Not until later in Wrath at least)
WoW then decided to just make gear scores visible., but it didn’t really “Fix” the issue until RDF came out, but then Gearscore was just for raids only.

Not to mention they are easy. I remember in 2009 the only “gatekeeping” was for achievement runs.
So using a trinket for multiple phases in TBC somehow isn’t the same as using a trinket for multiple phases in wrath?

And aside from trinkets most gear in tbc is linear. You’ll replace your weapons, your sets, and your offpieces tier to tier.
That is for raids. LFG will be complete full of messages “link achievement” and GG.
Make your own group… if no Gear score is required, you’re either playing with your friends only or you’ll get all the undergeared people that also don’t use gear score.
Trinket is replaced at phase 2.

With a trinket many will never see and still gets used with the 78 trinket in very mana intensive fights.
How do you think gearscore works? You just keep saying that but not explaining how you think it works.

“Link achievement” → Raids. But they will also ask for Gear Score in raids.
Gearscore was literally just an addon that assigned a score based on item level, slot and gear type (i.e. 2h weapons being worth more than 1handed), it was super fallible in that you could carry around a “high gearscore” set full of pieces you would never wear just to inflate it. Often times this included plate wearing DPS using Cloth gear.
And it’s a 12% drop rate on a boss many people will never do. Pretty rare.
And you’ll still use both together sometimes, gear is fluid.
