Premades and factions

I don’t know all the ins and outs of how people make and run premades but it seems like if they just disable factions in random battlegrounds like they do for RBGs and blitz that it would kill premades instantly.

Correct me if I’m wrong but when you want to form a premade for say AV the technique is to have everyone queue at the same time. To do this you can either do a countdown addon/program or you can just have the raid leader countdown over discord. So if you were randomly assigned the groups who queue for a bg to either horde or alliance no matter what your faction is in-game wouldn’t that break premades because on average half their team would end up on the other team?

Seems like an easy temporary fix until blizzard can figure out how to stop this behavior. Also it would have the added bonus of making queues shorter.

Did you see the YouTube video of a team of 4 (2 teams of duos) queue syncing into a solo bg?
If not, it took them 5 minutes to accomplish, and they discussed how easy it would be to have the duo queued healers on one team avoid objectives and mostly heal eachother, to allow the other duo of theirs win on the opposite team. This is done often with cross faction enabled in the mode AND with smaller group sizes.

While it is easier in random BGs thanks to specific map queuing and larger party sizes, cross faction alone cannot ensure fair games for EBGs or Random BGs. There may be a dozen issuses from Botting, scripts, to win trading that all require game design changes to address each unique issue.

An additional road block to fair games is due to inaction from Blizzard it appears that queue syncing is very much allowed, and has been for over a decade. If it was not desired behavior, a maximum of one party that queue together per team per instance could have been implemented at any time. Likewise filling no less than three instances at the same time and separating those that queued almost at the same second or in the same second into those three different matches that are cross faction, could have removed some of the ease in queue syncing. Similarly, allowing specific map queues enables queue syncing communities to just decide to all queue for the same map. Are they all gonna get into the same map? Yes, that much is guaranteed with specific map queues. A lot of them are going to get into the same instance as eachother as well, and on the same team, if they’re all the same faction because there’s no cross faction.

Since syncing has been allowed so long, I would suggest we assume that it will continue to be allowed. What each individual does with that information is up to them.

Yep, simple stuff. Maybe 8 groups of 5 queueing, or even more, at the same time.

But yes, if they removed factions, most of this stuff would be pointless. That said, they would need to put some additional filters in there. Like making sure both sides got the same amount of groups. OR better yet, just limit the amount of groups that can join any BG. That 8 groups of 5 can potentially get on the same side is broken to begin with. It should be limited to a max of 2 groups of 5 on any side in 40v40 maps.

Lots of simple solutions, Blizzard just doesn’t care if people cheat atm.

I would beat that most people doing the premade thing because they want to stomp 100% of their games and not win 50% of their games because one side has to take their turn losing. Seems like a huge deterrent.

What other simple solutions are there?

Well, beyond getting rid of factions and capping the amount of groups that can join, they can go after players that leave matches in progress and also those who constantly drop their queues. While it’s normal and fine to drop a queue or two, the queue sync groups are doing it constantly. If you need to drop queue more than 2-3 times in a row, you should probably get flagged. If you continue todo it, you should be prevented from queueing. The average player would never come close to this, so it wouldn’t impact anyone but the players trying to stack.

Same with leaving bgs you have just joined our ones that are in progress. Again, totally fine for the normal player, but the queue sync groups do it constantly. Especially for any player that joins a match and leaves before the match even starts.

Outside of that, they could just randomize queues more. During peak times, there is 0 reason to have players that queue at the same time being put into the same bg.

You’re totally missing the point, but that’s to be expected. If you make epic bgs cross faction, it would make balancing each side simple. Your little queue made groups are able to stack because teams are faction based. Remove that, and half of you might be on one side and the other half would be on the other side.

Stay in school kids.

in school we r taught to not fight are friends so we dont attack them n obviously whatever side gets more of us wins. learn 2 win maybe?

When I was in school, we learned to play fairly and not bully others. Also, we were taught to be honest.

Translation: win trading made possible by queue syncing is the new meta

woah im just educating u like its school we went to diferent schools clearly i went to catholic shcool so turn the other cheek

It makes no difference if cross faction splits up a queue syncing team, they are still a team and willing to decide who wins through win trading, which I’m surprised they’re willing to admit.

This would definitely reduce the interest in these premades though. Part of the appeal is stomping random players as a team. If you knew you were winning over people throwing on purpose and you were expected to lose on purpose half the time as well then it would not be as enticing.

While would love that to be true, they are already gloating about queuing characters from both factions at the same time to do this win trading on purpose.

Are you really going to believe the slack jawed, level 16 rogue alt?

Due to the current design of the game, what he says he does, is completely doable. It doesn’t really matter if he does it or if his friends do it or not, if it’s possible, things should change.

In addition to what he said, MANY YouTube videos exist or at least did, of a peticular holy paladin that would use mercenary mode, swap specs to Ret, use drums the second the gate went up, and then do nothing useful for his team in order to provide both, gameplay sabatoge and win trading. I don’t think he cared who the other team had on staff, and instead was just trying harm the faction he mercenaried onto.

This really wouldn’t do much. My premade is just going to queue with a bigger group, say 60+ people, so that we have a larger percentage of filling out one faction.

We are determined to play with our friends, as is our right in an mmo…

Are you talking about epics or Blitz??

If you’re talking about epics, why the heck would anyone win trade epics??

Maybe maybe. If so, that would be a reportable offense if they were actively throwing. That said, it would still mean more wins are going out to regular pugs. Even if it’s a 50/50 roll at that point, you could be on the winning side as compared to now where you’re most likely taking a loss. Not a great experience, but still better than what we have.

I’d keep politics out of this.

I already said this.

Well, you can all play together, but it means some of you will be on the other side taking losses. If not, and players are actively leaving, that is reportable.

So still a lose lose for you.

Our right? lmao

You have a right to stack a team for easy wins? What a joke.
