Premade Queue vs PuG Queue

I am one of those players that forms/has formed Rated BGs in Retail, formed PvP Groups back in Vanilla all the way off and on till today. For years and years of playing this awesome game I have enjoyed the many forms of PvP it has to offer including BGs, World PvP, and even Arenas. Do I think I am in the top 5-10% of skilled players, no… however that doesn’t stop me from having my fun in all these various ways I can PvP.

In SoD I have a Guild and we do Premade PvP and we actually and quite literally Obliterate the enemy team if they are a PuG. If we are out in full force (10man) they legit have no chance whatsoever, and I think the only time we lost when we are running Premade is when our numbers severely dwindled in subsequent Queues and the other team had a few smaller teams (not full PuG as we could see the ones from the same servers grouped and worked together, so we assume them to be grouped). When we are down to around 5 people, we could get any number of AFKers, Keyboard Turners, or just people that seem lost as to where to be and that small amount of randomness sometimes is enough to cause a loss if the enemy team seems to work more cohesively (although a much closer match then our FULL premade).

All this being said, the answer to “do Premades have fun beating PuGs”, starts with a yes (well at first). When we get together to “Stomp some noobs” at the start of the night it’s funny to see how fast they die, and how quick we win the games. However rapidly in the night especially the more skilled players eventually get the yawns, because it’s actually TOO easy… and you’ll actually immediately see the enemy team (or the smarter ones that know they’re getting farmed by a premade by looking at the score card) all stop playing, which forces us to get what kills we can then cap out to win the game. However the people in our group that are less skilled, or don’t seem to get enough after winning back to back with no challenge seem to revel in it. Like the ones that still could work on some things in PvP, well they’re the ones that get addicted usually… like a weird nerdy bloodlust. The rest of us feel untouchable but go numb, and it’s less and less fun.

In conclusion I love to Premade, but I like a challenge and I want Premades to fight against others just as prepared as I am. I don’t really always want a super fast win, but I enjoy the Rated BGs in Retail where you are going to have some tough to swallow losses, but it makes the Victories oh so much sweeter than “Stomping noobs”.

I as an experienced Premade Player support more Queue options. Perhaps award Premades with more Rep for Wins than regular Queue, and allow Regular Queue to still Queue with a few Buddies but not a Full Raid team, that way everyone has a place to play PvP with whatever they have available. (such as a small tight knit pvp guild who typically can’t form a full Premade)

TLDR; Experienced PvPer (Premade Enjoyer) explains why having multiple Queue Options is better than Premade Queue Vs PuG.

It’s not even a Question of whether it is unfair or not, the numbers of Wins/Losses alone can show that.

Blizzard knows that Premades vs PuGs is a huge deal and the community is literally flooding the forums saying it needs to stop. Not everyone had the time, or the patience to form their own Premades in order to have a fun night of farmin’ rep against pushover PuGs, and PuGs have no play to challenge themselves and actual PvPers that want a challenge but DO have the patience also don;t have a place to have hard fights against another tough team (unless they get lucky in the Queue and get another Premade team)

Just wait, shortly now we will see a flood of players who claim they are fantastic at pvp jump onto this post too and troll it and act like they’re great players and everyone that isn’t interested or doesn’t have the time to get into Pre-mades just sucks at the game or needs to just work together when the reality is this is exactly why Rated BG/Arenas became a thing.

The more mature of the WoW fanbase is starting to see that there are certain Qol things Blizzard can start to implement and thats why we are here in Sod. So Blizz needs to actually look at these posts and start to implement changes to these Queues.

I don’t have much fun when half the enemy Pug afks right after the initial clash because we swamped them too hard. Then you’re legit straight up getting free caps and bored while the few dumb ones keep spawning and running off their GY into us…

You are literally complaining about how the game and battleground pvp was intentionally designed to be. We are just playing it as it is designed to be played.

Pvp in MMOs is not balanced nor fair. I know that can suck sometimes but essentially every mmo that has pvp has designed it so if someone dedicates themselves to figuring out a way to gain a massive advantage over others, they get rewarded for doing so.

This is why as you get higher ranks you get better gear that sets you above most others.

I do get that it is frustrating to be the ones getting steamrolled and I understand why those people may not want to play, but people like me are just playing the game as it’s intended design.

Shutup man

It is atrocious design and will just lead to people not pvping

Look, if you have fun forming your Premade and getting full consumes, getting the near perfect comp, getting in Discord and getting rdy to play some PvP…

why are you so afraid of actually Queueing against other Premades instead of against puggers?

That doesn’t change the fact it is how it was intentionally designed to be

I never once said anything about being afraid of fighting other premades, that’s literally you projecting.

It’s actually really frustrating and a huge waste of my time as a Premade player to have 80% of the enemy teams we go against just give up before we even hit the half way point.

We need to seperate Qs

I wanna fight against formidable opponents with the same skill or good comp and have a tough win now and then… its boring af to steamroll and probably just as boring to get steam rolled.

You are just low iq or something idk.

Yes 20 years ago they made design choices that were in all honestly likely just a reflection of system limitations at the time.

They have since realized in retail that maybe 10 man premades arent reasonable for 10 man bgs and 0 healer bgs are not reasonable for bgs.

The end result will just be a perpetually dwindling solo queue population that creates a vicious cycle of totally miserable pvp without being in a premade

Lol no, it’s more of a challenge to rally randoms to victory. If anything, the solo queue should reap more.

That’s understandable but that’s not how the game was designed.

I mean dude…
You’re literally fighting tooth and nail as a minority against way more people than you who agree that premades and pugz should be separated for fun.

what could possibly be your reasoning to keep premades against pugs then if it isn’t to just literally put rep on farm (which imo is NOT the intended way blizz wanted people to play the game) If I look to later iterations of the game premades fight premades and the best gear is locked behind that. Imagine a Rated BG team going against Pugz… if you’re not actually bored steamrolling people you have a hero complex with this game.

What would you lose if you had to fight against other premades instead of against pugs?

And yet the system here remains the same.

If retail has what you are looking for, then by all means go play it.

I wouldn’t lose anything. It doesn’t change the fact that this specific version of the game is designed like this and in such a way that changing it to actually achieve what you are wanting is realistically not in the cards.

Why do you think Blizzard purposefully ignores this topic?

Was SoD the way Vanilla was intentionally designed to be? I’m failing to see how you’re argument holds any weight in a forum for a game designed to be full of balance and changes to its Raids, PvP, Classes, Professions, and more…

Yes we do, it’s actually not fun at all for anyone that is actually good at the game.

Right! There are still some things they are taking from other iterations and bringing to SoD even as we speak with Runes etc.

Well, I will say this. A fight against another team whos Full BiS nearly, with full consumes, and full comp such as what you exp in rated bg is usually much more of a fun thing for me and I personally think is more challenging.

However I would still prefer them to seperate Queues even if I didn’t get more rep/honor from premade Queue. I just want actual fun games, and it’s boring stomping PuGs.

again though SoD is not how Vanilla was designed either… so us bringing up these potential changes is within the realm of reality and possibility. If it wasn’t possible for this change to happen you would be able to completely ignore my post and let it die, yet here you are keeping my post alive and completely outnumbered as well… thanks for bumping it!

The system has already changed, the pvp loot, the 20-25 cap due to level limits.
seems more like you should take a dose of your own medicine and go to Era?

Delete your character because that race was included when the game was initially designed.

Hey hey, don’t vanilla my SoD.

You know you got Era server you can freely go play as well right? So why don’t you stay on topic… oh wait… it’s because you’re not making any valid points and you’re outnumbered by a vast margin and flopping like a fish out of water. SoD is not the original game, it’s chalked full-o-changes… and more are coming… we don’t need you as a Gatekeeper for changes… I mean who do you even think you are?

If this is your only argument you already lost. This isn’t Vanilla, it’s closer to a Classic+ (which has tons of things already in it from retail)

Gatekeeping nerds are so strange…

I mean… why are you here then?
You seem lost. Era forums are where you need to be.

but like OP said, thanks for bumping the post and looking outnumbered

changes inc!!

More queue options sounds awesome to me
or just limit premades to less people.
