Predictable Rotation Class

Hello, was hoping for a pointer to my next class. I’ve done Outlaw Rogue and Fury Warrior. I like the class fantasy of every class pretty much and even specs, except Demon Hunter. I want my next one to have a predictable rotation, ie. I want to spend less time looking at my skills to see what lights up and more time watching the action and/or mob mechanics/skills. I can comfortably fit 30 or so skill binds with my control setup, so lots of skills is fine just not watching for procs that don’t have a solid indicator like warrior rampage or rogue’s pistol shot proc. A quick pro/con of what I played so far:

Outlaw Pros:
Big kit and plenty of variation on how to approach a fight.
Fun flavor skills in grappling hook, pick lock, pick pocket.
Tactical, able to pick/choose fights and think about approach of coming battle.

Cons:
Roll the bones randomness can make or break a hard fight.
Have to check my list of buffs to see what landed after I roll.
Squishy, unable to handle much in terms of accidental pulls outside vanishing away.
Pick pocket doesn’t seem to actually offer much value. Pick lock isn’t used much.

Fury Warrior Pros:
Tough and self sustaining. Love “drain” type skills: I hurt you and it heals me.
Able to take crowds of trash no problem.

Cons:
Not much variation in approach, push button - smash. Little room for clever play to overcome challenging fights.
Too much proc, have to constantly watch skill bar to see what’s lighting up and how to move forward in rotation.

Over all I suppose the ideal is a hard and fast damage rotation with a large set of cool downs or utility to play with for tactical purposes. Also, I play mostly alone. Any group content I do I’m quite happy with pugs and comfortable in any role (ie. I don’t mind the hate if I suck  )

It’s a “low performing” spec in group play, but Beastmaster hunter has maybe the most predictable rotation I’ve tried, so far. It’s ranged, but, you have a tank so you don’t feel squishy. You have tools like traps, etc to handle strategic pulls, and others for “oops” pulls. I think it sounds like a good fit.

While beast master is a fairly easy spec, it does have short cooldowns abilities and resource management, which I find has me looking at stuff other than the field of battle.

While Frost Mages are proc based, the default spell indicators handle them well, so I don’t find myself looking at my bars much. For harder fights, it’s about skill with kiting and movement management. It is, however, super frustrating when you get a string without procs because frostbolt spam isn’t all that exciting, and doesn’t do much damage. It’s also pretty awful in the lower levels until Fingers of Frost, Brain Freeze, and Winter’s Chill all come online.

Ret paladins aren’t too bad. They do suffer a bit from the short cooldown spells thing that BM does, but it doesn’t feel as extreme. (The issue I run into with BM is that some of those short cooldown abilities are spenders, so you really have to watch both the cooldown and your resource.) With ret, the cooldowns are on your builders. With the personal resource display on, I don’t find keeping track of holy power to be too bad. (The fact that it’s a pretty simple resource helps with that.) They are tanky with good self healing and have big hits.

When learning a new class, I like to use the addon Hekili. It is a rotation suggestion addon. I can put it near my character. I like to size it down a little, too. Then, my eyes don’t have to travel much to see it. I don’t like to blindly follow it, but, I use it as a reminder and trainer to figure out the flow of the rotation/priorities. After a while, I find I’m not really looking at it any more.

Awesome tips. I’ve avoided add-ons so far, but maybe it’s time. I also had blood DK suggested. Will get to work trying some of these out ice/bm/ret/blood all sound like fun to me. Thanks all. Elgin-Shadow Council if you’d like some lockboxes open in return lol
