Im predicting a good 1mil at launch…increasing to 5 mil and upwards over Retail WoW within a year.
IT will draw in all the old MMORPG players new and old.

All? Very doubtful. There are plenty of old-school MMO players who thought WoW even in Classic was too casual and easy. They’re playing games like EverQuest on servers like Project 1999.
I think Classic will have its niche. I think it will initially see a massive boom (I personally may or may not be among it), but it will quickly die off and remain as a museum for folks to jump in now and then. It will have its dedicated guilds but all in all I don’t think it will overtake the current game.
Worse than BFA. Which is like what 3 million atm?
Classic forums these are not.
More than BfA and I actually think it will stay that way due to the gearing system classic uses and the social aspect it will bring that real MMO feel that current WoW has long since lost.
I seriously doubt it will outperform current. Not that it’s a high bar, just that a lot of the damage has already been done to population and trust in the devs, a lot of the admittedly archaic structures are going to feel too tedious to the flighty audience modern WoW targets, and current players have been spoiled with utterly toothless outdoor content.
I suspect you’ll get a huge tourist surge, the overwhelming majority of them will drop off, and the remaining servers will be too low-pop to support a solid community because heaven forbid Blizzard merge the damn things like they used to. At best, they’ll try to fix it with more lolsharding and drive away everyone who was actually interested, and those people will go back to their private servers while idiots wearing overly expensive suits wonder why they keep losing people.
46,000 players.
I thought it was at 1.1mil
I dont even think its that low. I just know with BFA being mediocre and losing China Blizz lost a chunk
Probably a few hundred thousand at launch then less than 10k when the year is over.
5 million…
thats hilarious
100 billion gazillion.
easy 2mil at launch and i think it will grow from there
I’m thinking 700-800k then dropping to sub 50k. There’s a lot of nostalgia, and parents forcing their kids to play with them, but then everyone’s going to remember how hard it was back then compared to now. Even vanilla was a second job.
10000 give or take a 1000
Number will rapidly decrease after people will realize that vanilla is not that good.
Well a private server had 150k active players so maybe 500-800k after the initial surge, it will start dropping after a year or so if they don’t continue any development on it.
10k steady players after 6 months and never rising over a million
I played classic, I loved classic. But this is full on crazy town.
You would probably get a huge number of players at the start checking it out if its free with a regular live subscription, maybe a million who at least make a character even if they don’t play it very far…
but that will tail off quick, probably no more than a few hundred thousand at most, maybe more realistically 10k-20k that play it to any serious level once the novelty wears off. People will largely go back to live.
I’m predicting double BFA’s subs at launch and then it will decline to about 2 million after that. If they end up giving it the OSRS treatment with new content that has the oldschool style to them it will most likely be a pretty healthy MMO of it’s own, if not I’d expect it to eventually die off to around 100-200k players soon TM
