Pre-Raid Gearing at 60

Hey everyone,
So with classic around the corner, I was wondering what are the best dungeons to run for pre-raid gear? Are there any particular dungeons with somewhat specific loot tables (mostly cloth/leather/mail/plate)? I was planning on making a warrior in classic and am curious if there are certain dungeons I should focus for good gear.

I’d like to start a discussion about pre-raid gearing even though starting to do so is a long ways away. Then, when the time finally comes, people can have an idea of what to do.

BRD, UBRS/LBRS, Dire Maul, Stratholme, and Scholomance.

They all pretty much have loot for all classes/specs. You can probably find full pre-raid BiS gear lists for any class with a quick Google search.

Other than gear you might also want to keep in mind where certain recipes drop. Fire protection pots, for example, are extremely useful for early raiding and the recipe drops in LBRS.

Basically the level 60 dungeons mentioned above (LBRS, UBRS, BRD, Strat, Scholo). Some of these you will need to do for your MC attunement quest, so that you can even enter the raid in the first place. That’s not to say you’ll get the gear you need all in one run though.

The toughest part of gearing for raids though is farming fire resist gear. I forget what the reqs were for the various classes, but melee needed like 250-300 or so fire resist iirc. Casters needed less.

Here’s what I could find on Wowhead for Warriors: ht tps://classic.wowhead.com/plate-armor/class:1?filter=26;2;0#items:0-13-2

I remember farming for that recipe and mats when I couldn’t get groups. I think the day I got it we had camped the instance for like 3 hours running back and forth.

I was pumped when I got it and typically had a couple hundred pots ready for our first Rag attempts.

Any dungeon that gets you pieces of your T0 set is a good bet.

You’ll spend time in the lvl 60 dungeons mentioned above also.

With pservers running vanilla for over a decade there’s plenty of lists already compiled and out there on the net about BIS gear.

Really no need to reinvent the wheel again.

There’s also some pre-raid BIS gear that’s available from professions, rogues (and I think feral druids) for example devilsaur is BIS pre-raid and is form leather working.

I would imagine other classes have the same use for crafter gear.

True, however, you don’t need FR gear until Barron Geddon. If your guild lacks the FR gear required you should at least be able to clear up through Garr. After that the trash is going to start wiping the floor with melee.

Yeah, let’s lock all threads that aren’t change/nochange threads. How dare people come to the official forums for real info and discussions.

Who needs fr gear? If tanked correctly the tank does and no one else.

We’ll see how close the Classic numbers are to Private Server numbers.

Regardless, Classic, Pserver, and Vanilla will be totally different.

I’d take the BiS list with a grain of salt.

If I see that BiS for mages is still a bunch of green gear and spec arcane power in Classic… lol. That’s when i decide not to play.

Itemization for casters is garbage early on, which is why greens with the suffix “Of Frozen Wrath” are better than dungeon blues or even tier pieces that are loaded with stamina/intellect but no spell damage.

Half the frost tree’s points is either increasing the slows/roots or shatter. Completely useless in raids where 99% of mobs are immune to slows and roots. Unless you are too lazy to respec from Ice Barrier or the token Winter’s Chill mage you shouldn’t be talented in deep frost.

Yet, you could also be wrong and the numbers be very close. We won’t know till it goes live.

I was referring more to the trash once you get to Baron Geddon and not so much Baron Geddon himself.

Exactly. Which why raiding early on was more about mana management. If private servers are indication, 1.12 turned everything into a dps race where everything died in 2 seconds. Instead spending hours in mc, it came a 30 minute stream roll. Talk about people staying FRESH … it’s not just the servers.

The fact that things took alot more time to kill had huge implications on game play.

No one knew how 1.12 vanilla actually played out in the earlier raids. It wasnt out long enough. Vanilla is long gone as is the experience - raiding and dungeon wise.

There are a few of us left that actually progression raided.

I mean sure it helps but if your healers are good and the tanks position the mobs correctly and your positioning is correct then you’ll be fine. Just don’t get in front of those fire elementals and you are ok.

I was a resto druid. I was one of those raiders. Think I killed anub in naxx. Not sure. I remember being in naxx but I know i didn’t get far. It’s hard remembering what was vanilla naxx and what was wotlk.
