In MoP, you added Heirloom weapons that would drop of Garrosh and offered an incentive for players to kill him at the end of the expansion, as they [the weapons] would be good throughout your questing experience from 90-100.
In WoD, you added heirloom trinkets that dropped from end-game activity that would be used throughout your questing experience from 100-110. You added a variety of trinkets that would have an extra benefit against demons specifically, making them sought after for said leveling experience in Legion.
Now, we have a new heirloom trinket which seems to only be available during this pre-patch, however, it does not scale past level 59. WHY? Throughout the last month or so, many players took advantage of the experience boosts offered and have no use for a trinket that scales to 59. Let us farm this trinket out and use it during our questing experience in Dragonflight (make is scale up to 69 by default) as you’ve traditionally done with pre-patch heirlooms before please!
Heirlooms for all classes off an accessible Raid boss, Timeless Isle, still had the cool sub-specs like Gladiator for Sword & Shield DPSers, still had Reforging for useless stats…
This one feels like its just a 2 week mail-order patch. Gotta sit around for 20 minutes at a time for a RNG chance at some items to make this one heirloom. MEH
The Siege of Orgrimmar style heirlooms were because Blizzard didn’t want SoO gear to overpower all of the gear you’d get while leveling but still wanted to allow you to carry over something.
That’s not a problem anymore as Blizzard allows raid gear from the previous expansion to be used all the way up to the level cap of the next expansion.
Not that 5k gold bothers me, but it feels a bit rushed / unpolished to get an heirloom reward for DF pre-patch event that doesn’t even scale to SL levels.
WLK was great, copied the Naxx40 event, but still good.
CAT was meh, IIRC, it’s basically what we have now with DGF, except Deathwing would randomly wipe out a zone and kill everything (which was funny the first time, annoying the rest)
MoP only had early access to the Theramore scenario
WoD only had Blasted Lands event, and early access to the UBRS revamp
LEG was alright, it was pretty much like CAT/DGH but there was more going on, imo. There were phases that started out slowly, then the entire world of Azeroth got busy.
Was there a pre-launch event for BFA? I can’t remember.
I never bothered with SHL until now, I heard the pre-launch was similar to WLK but with less in it.
I only managed to get the staff, 2H axe and 1H mace but the best things about the heirloom weapons from SoO is that we can socket them and there’s socket bonuses. Not to mention, fully upgraded the heirloom weapons are actually 1-3 ilvls higher than the normal heirloom.
Only reason I ended up getting the trink even though I thought it was a waste of time is because the earth and water pieces dropped 1st try. I wouldn’t have bothered otherwise.
My only issue with the Heirloom is it starts at 1-49. Why is a Dragonflight Prepatch Item not immediately scaling to 59 on it’s own?
I haven’t used it yet though. Is it even good? I usually just use the Swift Hands because of the healing allows me to chain pull groups back to back.
Garrosh Heirlooms were nice, it’s cool that unlike regular heirlooms they’re a bit stronger and have Gem Slots.
All legion had going for it was the invasions and eventually dh, yet people remember it fondly.
Here you can do the same things as legion, get gear, level through the invasions, play evoker, and you even get a dungeon thrown in like the WoD prepatch, but people call it bad… I has a confuse.
