So, after the pre-patch yesterday I searched the Auction House for unlearned plans/recipes/schematics as I sometimes do. There have been no blacksmithing plans, engineering schematics, or recipes for me to buy or learn from the AH in a long time- as I have nearly all of them. But yesterday, after the pre-patch, 6 different Engineering schematics from the Burning Crusade suddenly appeared as something I could learn. I bought them all. These were certainly not available to me previously to learn, even though they had been on the AH previously (I assume it’s because they were for cloth, leather, and mail googles which don’t match my armor type of plate.) These included:
[Schematic: Lightning Etched Specs]
[Schematic: Hyper-Magnified Moon Specs]
[Schematic: Quad Deathblow X44 Goggles]
[Schematic: Annihilator Holo-Gogs]
[Schematic: Powerheal 9000 Lens]
and even some more. What is going on here? Did Blizzard decide 12 years later to allow engineers of all armor types to learn all the various cross schematics? Do I need to drag myself back through a bunch of BC content now to get the ones that BoP? Did anyone else notice this?

Wow, thank you for posting that info. I’d had a bunch of these in my bank for years in case I ever levelled one of those classes as an engineer so they wouldnt go to waste.
I just learned them all on my “main” engineer.

Best guess is that it’s related to the new work order functionality. Those recipes were for BOP gear, so if you couldn’t wear it there was no point in being able to make it. Now that you can make BOP gear for other people via work orders (in Dragonflight only… so far), they updated the functionality of old recipes because there is now a good reason to be able to learn them.
