we level up fast enough in pre-patch but the dungeons are way too hard. It’s okay during level 1-30 but it’s stupidly hard in 30-50. Random dungeons are way too hard due to level scaling. Boss debuff deals 400 per sec but we only have 2000HP.
Druid healers could not save one man alive. Every dungeon boss in Draenor and Legion is harder than BFA mythic 15. We wiped and gave up some dungeons many times. Hope the balance team tries a new character and level up to 50 doing the quest and random dungeons. Sometimes mobs outside oneshot you for no reason it’s not elite. Sometimes you deal 400 dmg to a boss and he could heal for 10000. Some of them have a shield that never breaks. I am a long time player but my friends are not. They don’t have looms they need gears so we do random dungeons and we cannot beat some dungeons. Before pre-patch it’s not hard and I love doing random dungeons while I level up toons. But after pre-patch dungeons are a pain in the X. Some mobs outside have bugs. They deal level 120 dmg and oneshot me tho they are level 45 when I’m level 45. Please adjust the difficulties of dungeons. If you don’t believe me just do public research on the blizzard website and ask if it’s too hard doing dungeons during level 30-50. It is sure harder than classic in pre-patch. I play both I feel it.
Odd, I’ve had no issues so far from 44 to 48 healing as a druid.
Look at the damage meter. If you match up low-level players they do way higher dmg than 48 DPS. If you match up with low-level players dungeon would be fast and easy. But if your DPS is the same level as you and you are doing Draenor dungeons it’s hard. Before pre-patch when I was around level 100 boss has around 140k -200k HP. But I could do thousands of crit dmg. Now when I was level 40 I deal crit 300-400 dmg as Warrior but the boss still has 140k HP.I have 14 characters maybe you need to experience more in pre patch to feel the change.
I’ve been leveling several alts to 50 during prepatch. My latest is currently a lvl 35 resto druid. I can attest that dungeons are extremely hard to heal, specifically certain bosses in legion dungeons seem to do way more damage than I can possibly manage. This may get better after 39 when I get efflorescence but right now there are some certain bosses that I literally just can’t heal through (Helya for example in Maw of Souls.) It’s not that I’m inexperience or anything either, I played through legion and was doing M+15 keys weekly then, I raided on a holy paladin and resto shaman in mythic level raids too so… I mean I might just not be getting the resto druid thing, but I highly doubt it. It feels overtuned.
The last time they did a squish I remember the broken Hunter boss in…underbog insta gibbing our tank and everyone else halfway through the fight, one ability he did just did more than 10 times the damage of everything else.
I haven’t done any levelling dungeons but it’s possible some stuff wasn’t scaled down properly, especially with the spaghetti code this game uses now, it wasn’t originally designed for scaling so it’ll take some time to work out the links…it’s also sometimes not the NPCs but rather how scaling between players work, as a healer may be too weak depending on level gap to heal the tank.
I healed on Maw last week as Shaman, similar issue. We squeaked by. I’ve also noticed that Legion’s AOE hurts. The spinning scythes on Amalgam, spawned on me, one shot. The bile on Smashspite, bounced into and died the second I touched it. One tick takes my entire bar. I’ve started avoiding dungeoning Legion until 40-45.
Scaling and squishes are always ‘fun’ times. Remember the caster bug during wod prepatch that made every caster mob’s bolt pretty much one shot anyone (or really close). Took a while to fix going into wod, especially achidun with the chaosbolt imps almost oneshotting tanks per bolt.
I agree I did some healing seems hit and miss, but I think what the main issues are aoe damage and weaker group heals and mainly mechanics type damage has not been properly scaled yet. Good overall groups, are not as bad as groups that lack damage these mechanics can doom you quick at much lower levels then normally seen pre-squish.
I struggled a ton leveling a holy paladin while in leveling dungeons. Other healing specs are pretty much fine. For some reason hpal heals don’t seem to do anything at low levels.
3 months later and it’s still not fixed… When I did a forum search I noticed there were posts on the Shadowlands PTR forum talking about some of the specific encounter problems cited in this thread.
Judging by the bizarre restrictions on queuing and using the group finder, my guess is that devs don’t want anyone to do dungeons while leveling.
I used to do lots of leveling dungeons on my levelers. Now I just carry them through once for the quests.
Dungeons are crazy hard atm. Any timeline, Cata was fkn gd awful

Level 10 is where it’s at. Make a level 10, xp lock them, enchant them, and experience the world in the most enjoyable way.
