Pre patch date?

Did Blizzard just announced the pre patch date or am I just misreading/misunderstanding?

“In a streamed press conference, NetEase announced that retail WoW service in China will be restored on August 1st, starting with The War Within pre-patch and launching the full expansion on August 26th alongside the rest of the world.”

Sounds like a reasonable date for it.

Only problem, it’s on a thursday. Don’t pre patches usually start on the tuesday maintenance?

Prepatch events were already confirmed to begin July 30th, with the prepatch likely released a week prior. Given China is 15h ahead of Pacific time, that would be August 1st for them.
