Officially licensed by Blizzard Entertainment, World of Warcraft: Blood Ties is an original prequel novel to the highly anticipated World of Warcraft: Midnight game expansion, the second chapter in the Worldsoul Saga. Written by revered World of Warcraft author Christie Golden, this novel chronicles the journey of Arator the Redeemer, son of High Exarch Turalyon and the legendary Alleria Windrunner, as he embarks on a journey investigating rumors of a strange glow emanating from the ruins of a long abandoned Legion base, which leads him to uncover more about himself, his parents, and their heroic legacy.
I kind of have mixed feelings about this.
On the one hand, I love Christe Golden’s novels.
On the other hand, I thought that as of DF, they wouldn’t be necessary to understand the main story in the game.
Well half the characters are interesting… I really dont think tying the legion in makes sense though. These characters predated the legion in the story.
That art is sick AF.
Is that what Midnight is going to feel like? Please say yes.
…I thought we were done with Golden?
Cant i get the book for free when i preorder midnight?
Knaak wants to much money.
Radical Idea: Tell the story in the game, allow players to interact with the story and move through it.
Crud idea: Putting game lore into additional purchases outside the game. Especially when it’s set up for an expansion.
I didn’t hate War Crimes. That’s the last WoW novel I’ve read.
She may have had a short story in Warcraft Fairytales though. I don’t recall who wrote what.
reddit post from 1year ago says she got fired from the lore department.
not really giving me the itch to check out her book
*same reddit post suggests shes responsible for anduin being such a cry baby too. not looking good lol
Guy, some of you already whine about too much attention being put on NPCs. You want to put all of this character development into the game? Lol, no you don’t.
I’m good, thanks.
It’s funny that Blizz chooses things decades too late to try and push their IP. First it was books, now they’ve missed the Esport craze and are late to try and cash in on it when everyone’s over the hype.
Yes I do, it’s not an insane foreign concept to have the main lore/story of a game, be in the game.
If you wanna argue just to argue I’m entirely down though.
This is not me so not relevant to my post. I like story and character development being in game.
Do these stories have hints and clues about the next expansion typically?
Ugh.
I’ll just wait until cutscenes from this are in-game, like what just happened with the Stromgarde story.
Lore books n’ whatnot are cool, but I’m just gonna wait until Nobbel or someone else covers them rather than buying it myself.
I’d just read it once and use it as a doorstop or something lol, not worth it to me.
It’s a game, first and foremost. That’s where my money goes. No where else for WoW.
sometimes i feel like arenas would still be a big esport if they didnt perma reckful. i never really cared about arenas but when reckful was there it looked fun as hell
Dear Blizz, when I want to pick up a book…I read THIS… slams down the 1200 page BRICK that is Jane Austen’s Omnibus
Who dis bloodelf boy with the new look?
It’s literally impossible.
There are small nuances in a novel that can’t properly translate into a game.
That’s why I love the novels. They go into detail the way a game cannot.
