With the changes to the world making leveling time travel shouldn’t the option of leveling in classic period Azeroth be there?
that would be an awesome option.
They never should’ve changed the world during cataclysm if they didn’t have the technology they have now to be able to swap back & forth between the new zones and the old ones. If you don’t like seeing Tirisfal being all screwed up? Talk to an NPC and go back, ez-pz. Don’t like thousand needles being flooded? Tough luck. They pulled the trigger on Cata too soon. I understand why they did it, they wanted a visceral & emotional response from people seeing the zones they spent years with destroyed, but they didn’t consider the long term ramifications of doing it.
yes, it called classic WoW. No its never coming back in retail. They don’t have all the data to properly restore it and it’d take ages to pull it together.
I don’t see why not, the world is sitting there just unused in retail, no reason to not add that to the options to let people level through, would also allow for all the old removed content and gear, patterns, etc to come back, who wouldn’t love to run old ZG or farm for patterns no longer in cata-world.
wow classic is ====> way. It would defeat the entire purpose of classic
I was wondering how long it’d take for someone to say this, honestly thought it’d be the first response
Never is a long time bro, you saying it won’t happen in the next 20 years? What about the next 40?
What do you mean? They have classic and classic runs on the Legion engine
If you want Classic, it’s already available. The level cap is even 60 there too!
I thought the same thing.
I think it was just too time consuming to take classic and also have the modern changes implemented that would take time from Shadowlands.
So they (not verbatim) said that they just left each bit in their own sliver of time and continued to focus on Shadowlands.
With the addition of classic WoW, there is 0 need to bring back pre-cata quests in retail.
It would take a tremendous amount of work to bring the retail version of Classic back. The entire reason for the revamp was because the old world didn’t support flying, it was a hollywood prop town that only worked from the ground. Quel’thalas and Exodar are still like this, you can watch videos of what happens to all of the textures when a player gets high enough off the ground or views them from an aerial angle.
So they would have to basically rebuild the entire world of classic, but to modern standards and with modern system integration. It just wouldn’t be worth the investment.
Why do you say that? Classic doesn’t have nearly the number of things to do that Retail does.
I miss OG Darkshore <3
I don’t know about everybody else but I’d just want the zones that were affected by the shattering back and not the entirety of the classic leveling experience.
I miss that run from Thousand Needles salt flats to Tanaris and all the corpses you’d see at the base of the elevator from Barrens to Thousand Needles lol
Redesigning all of the original zones to be flight-capable would probably be the most demanding and intensive part though. It is rebuilding every single zone so it doesn’t break from the air.
Because you can do all the missed quests in classic then come back here and do other stuff.
Doubt it will ever happen. Its been deleted from the live version of wow, and to recode and implement it would be like its own expansion outright.
They would not only have to recreate all the code, but also update it to wod models/current models, lvl sync, sharding, etc…
I won’t say never, because blizzard takes that as a challenge, but I doubt it.
I would imagine with Classic zones existing it WOULD be possible but I would think it would take a lot of work to do that and honestly not worth the effort. The original zones were not level scaled. The rewards and quests would be terribly outdated. I do not see that working out as a viable option. Fun option but not in our future I would say.
Nah, you see I’m a collector and it has to be done in retail or it won’t be tracked.
