The whole point of the event is survival of the fittest… doing everything that you can to strive… the chaos… the drama… the politics…
If you are just going to layer the event… you might as well skip it entirely and just open AQ… because its a desecration of what it is… if you keep the layers in.

Isn’t the point of each layer to simulate an entire server?

If my experience trying to farm ANYTHING in Winterspring is anything to go by, you’re being dramatic over a total non-issue.

If you are on Nightslayer and you oppose this then you should have likely rolled on a PVE server. A PVP server on Classic is meant for WPVP interactions, evading those actions with layers ruins the interaction between players.
Perhaps a fix would be that you can only change layers while in major cities.
Yup, it’ll be a joke. Layers obviously don’t work with the old game. But Blizz has decided saving a few bucks is more important than an authentic, quality experience.

Its gonna be snooze fest regardless lol. These gates are gonna take 3-4 weeks to open… everyone who wants a bug mount will have one.
Itll be a meme haha
I just feel 250+ people on one layer competing for everything is plenty.
If you play in Nightslayer and feels there’s no WPvP you need to get out of your starting zone. This isn’t South Park, you aren’t supposed to reach lvl 60 killing lvl 8 boars.

There are groups that other groups want to go after during this event. Layers ruins the political drama of the event which is why its popular.
PVPing people you dont identify on a constant basis does nothing but creates abstract PVP.

retail players do not understand the idea of community
he thinks just any random assortment of 250 players is “plenty”
Its Classic Vanilla… one person’s loss is another person’s gain… Its the victory and defeat… its the feeling of earned in competition.
Seeing those same 250 players enhances this dramatically.
That was the style of online games in this era of gaming. It’s why people get nostalgic because of all the good times… like Halo 2… you go to the end of game lobby… and you let that person know why they deserved to be demolished.

I’m vibing on the abstract pvp vs ellipses opie has going here.
Congrats; if m y character gets killed in the game by some random guild of whatever… my feelins are eh… its whatever… if I get killed by a group that hates my guild and feels vindicated I feel like garbage. The opposite can be said… if I kill random weak player its boring and yawn fest… if I kill From the Nines in open world pvp… I feel a sense of pride.
better yet nah… if I kill a random player its almost like im playing against AI
Which guild does the ellipses represent?
Same can be said if I was horde… if my guild beat WD in a raid v raid encounter; a guild that has constant propoganda on youtube, id feel like I beat the ego out of a bunch of losers… It would feel gratifying.
If things like this wouldn’t matter… then why do players congregate to streamer servers?
Too late for anniversary, but it would be cool to see a future server option with no layers to see how it does against one with layers.
Just to give players more options.
RP-PVP server imo.
Perfect.

Pretty sure the entire rp crowd wants 0 layers. It would probably make sense for it to be RP-PVP. Layers are jarring for roleplay.
Roleplaying a war with actual stakes and people that have impact is basically the op’s entire premise.
Dude i started in BC i miss server communities more than anything but server community = guilds i know, recognize and compete with, players i fight or group with on regular basis and form friendships with or banter with on the server forums, niche guilds doing stupid things for attention and getting it (Shoutout Les Viandards@Ysondre-EU).
I know all about that.
On the other hand sharing icecaps spawns with 249 other mages in greens with gibberish names and no guilds is pretty far off from that.

3-4 weeks? They are going to be open after the 5 day RP after the mat turn in (which will be completed day 1) lol
