I was in a (N) Shadow Labs this afternoon with (2) Warriors, (1) Hunter and their pet, (1) Mage and obviously myself.
Early in the dungeon it was apparent that the tank was having trouble holding aggro on some pulls and damage was being spread amongst the group.
In response to this, I started casting PoM on the tank.
I was a little surprised and somewhat upset that after the first few pulls, I noticed that PoM was bouncing from the tank to the hunters pet (to the exclusion of everyone else) which would rarely take damage, thus rendering the remainder of the spell useless.
Once we were past the first room and clearing the first bosses room, I started counting my PoM casts and paying attention to who it bounced to after the initial cast.
Out of the next 17 casts, it jumped from the tank to the hunters pet 12 times, and in 4 instances passed other players to do so. In all fairness, in 2 of 12 instances, the pet did take some damage causing PoM to jump back to another player.
This behavior isn’t new, but in this group it was more pronounced than I had ever seen.
This behavior severely limits the usefulness of this spell.
Was everyone flagged for PvP?
No, I am on a PvE server and nobody was flagged.
He’s referring to a bug that was causing flagged/non-flagged individuals to not benefit from aoe heals/totems/buffs.
Next time have everyone flag for PvP and see how it works.
Hunter pets usually take a lot of damage. Having the pet there ensures POM bounces back to the tank. Healing the pet is also useful as it’s a large part of BM hunter’s damage. I don’t see what the problem is.
Now if POM couldn’t bounce off pets, that would severely limit the usefulness of the spell.
PoM on pets isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it would be nice if it priod players
There’s no S in labryinth
I observed this same behavior last night running guildmates in Ramparts. I cast Prayer of Mending on the tank and the bounce only hit the enchancement shaman twice the entire run. Every other bounce preferred the warlock’s felguard.
Moreover, when the warlock kept his felguard beside him, the bounce would sail up 40 yards away from the tank to zero in on the felguard, completely ignoring the shaman and the shadow priest, both standing much closer.
Alternatively i cannot get chain heal to hit a pet, unless it’s directly targeting the pet.
