This quest seems to have a bug where mounting on one of the dragon flying mounts causes the progress bar to disappear and you are no longer able to gain progress towards the quest. I had to abandon the quest and pick it up again in order to get the progress bar back and working properly.

Ty for the tip; this happened to me also, so I abandoned and reacquired the quest, then avoided using a mount until the quest was complete and turned-in. That worked. Btw at the Cobalt Assembly location, as the quest proceeds, there is just a very small lightly glowing area in which you must stand, near the waygate, to activate the waygate. After that it’s all easy.
I had the same thing happen to me today. I got on my dragon flying mount and the bar went away. I didn’t notice until I’d killed a few more things. Logging out and back in brought the bar back with progress from mobs killed while it was missing. Hopefully nobody has to start it over anymore?
