You know you can spell reflect the hunt right?

He probably got kicked on eyebeam which locks out essence break for some reason.

Also spooky how the warrior only received 1 small heal.

The Hunt isn’t actually classified as a charge, you can stop it with any hard CC.

Essence Break is a chaos school ability. If you silence Eye Beam, if it silences the school, you silence EB briefly.

Without knowing exactly what happened at the start of the fight it was most likely good timing with Initiative (12% crit bonus) and Momentum (8% damage bonus) and Know your Enemy (80% crit damage bonus from bonus crit) and Any Means Necessary (all magic damage is dealt as chaos damage, and improves the bonus damage chaos deals from Mastery.)

Demon Hunters can deal a ton of damage but it usually involves a team completely ignoring them to the point that they have the time to make a bunch of buffs line up.

death sweep is physical damage, isn’t it? how would this apply?

This stops the dot, you need to parry to stop the initial hit

Ye, and the I imagine it’s still the case but the dot applies instantly. Like, The Hunt cast finishes = dot, and the DH reaching the target = the direct damage.

The direct damage can be stopped with any cc, although instant/ranged is the most reliable, like paralyze or imprison, and then the dot reflected/grounded.

My favorite thing in the world is to death grip a DH as the cast finishes. Its gotta be jarring af

Never trust a tool tip. If nothing else First Blood adds chaos damage to the initial hit of Death Sweep, and Trail of Ruin adds chaos damage to the last one, but looking at the generic combat log for WoW the entire death sweep is identified as chaos damage for me.

For me, who played a warrior for over a decade and was reflexively used to the jank that was charge stunning the target before I even reached them, it is really weird to use Hunt.

Less then you would think…but highly irritating.

Then I’ve done my job well.

Essence break is a weapon attack. It shouldn’t be getting locked out at all. It’s the only ability in the game that is susceptible to both disarm and silence, and I dont think this is meant to be the case.

I’m pretty sure it immunes the initial hit and reflects the dot, but maybe Im wrong about that. I know grounding fully immunes it.

A magical one that’s locked if you get kicked on Chaos (Eye Beam), no?
