i do not need blizzard to censor people for me by default. i have all my settings turned off. and this is still happening. Seems new?
Please give us the option to turn this off.

Blizzard knows best, trust the system.

It’s kind of annoying when some word they’ve decided is inappropriate gets turned into an random string of punctuation because it is part of a longer word. And you’re trying to figure out what your buddy was saying to you.
I’m not sure how or even if it can be changed. In the meantime, find a Discord to join. Should be easy to find a group that will fill your communication needs and may even test your tolerance levels!
Happy hunting!
no. chatting doesn’t fix the issue. and i am on many discords. irrelevant.
this needs an option to turn it off.
Recently had someone whisper me, it was censored and filtered, I was curious as to why.
The message contained zero profanity, zero offensive content at all, but happened to mention “Gaza” and “Israel” in the whisper.
Really odd how they are cracking down on in-game communication preemptively like this. I don’t need Blizzard to babysit me and if simple mentions of certain areas of the world are that triggering to people then they need to seek help.
unbelievable
So imposing their political views on us as well ?
Oh absolutely. That’s been a thing for years on these forums though. I’m not truly shocked to see it creep into the game like that.
I read somewhere you can’t type/mention Winnie the Pooh in Marvel Rivals. Different game/companies I know, but it’s just funny what certain groups find offensive.
Tinfoil is on sale at Walmart, if you run out.

It can change by the day depending upon what you identify as at any given hour. Just listen, educate yourself, and after that comply with anything I deem offensive from hour to hour. If I contradict myself that’s a representation of ignorance on your part.
Well, you never said what the issue was. Maybe you have in some post since.
It’s weird. It’s like Blizzard is filtering your posts to remove important content and meaning.
You can’t see the posts where he called you a clown because it was deemed potentially offensive.
agree, but i dont need anyone at blizzard censoring it for me
I see nothing wrong with this factually true statement.
Nobody needs it. They have every option to filter this out already in place. And to report it if it wedges their panties a bit.
It doesn’t matter, the auto censor has been horribly designed for years.
I can’t even use my original warriors name, it was fine in vanilla but when they added the auto-censor it got flagged as inappropriate (it’s not and not even close to being a “bad” word) and I’ve had to use alt codes to make it work for years.
I guess the people at Blizzard didn’t get the memo, all this hyper sensitive stuff isn’t gonna fly anymore.
Eh, would I prefer the ability to turn it off? Yes.
Do I understand why it is there? Yes.
Should it remain in place? Also yes.
This has nothing to do with “pushing a political agenda”, censorship, or babysitting people’s speech. It has to do with the ToS being in place and with an increase in the number of people who publically engage in language that is against the ToS (specifically in regards to politics and hate speech) … This change is necessary, regardless of whether we like it or not.
My language is only colourful enough to be caught by it when chatting with friends (who are fine with more crude language) but in every other regard… You aren’t supposed to talk like that in-game. Not even in guilds. So this change is necessary simply due to how inflammatory and ToS-breaking folks have gotten within the past few years.
How it works is that Blizzard doesn’t actively dictate which words, names, or even real world places are allowed to be mentioned or used as character names. When a character gets reported a GM determines whether said character’s name is against ToS or not.
This latest change is based seemingly on language that people have been reporting as inflammatory or otherwise against ToS, so they have began to proactively create protective measures against commonly reported things. If your username has been flagged, you should’ve changed it completely - using weird spellings or alt codes is not allowed and you run the risk of having your character’s name changed for you and/or your account shut down if you keep doing it.
glad im part of a conservative guild that doesn’t have to deal with this ideology and mindset. We can speak freely in our gu chat and discord.
and yes we are recruiting.
To be fair, that’s because Rivals is a Chinese game and people were saying Xi looked like Pooh lol.
