Yesterday I was flying from Duskwood to Chillwind. It is a long flight so I went AFK and when I came back I am dead in Elwynn forest. I checked my log and there is nothing to indicated something killed me like a Warlock DOT.
Today on another account and another computer I am flying from Hinterland to IF and ended up dead again.
My Internet is rock solid and never seen this issue before. Is this caused by some server side lag ? Anybody else experienced this happening post patch?
Were you in Elwynn Forest in a place near the crossing point to or from another zone (Westfall, Redridge, Duskwood, Stormwind)? Or were you in the middle of Elwynn Forest?
I was getting a situation like that, and the cause wound up being an older router that was starting to have issues. What I would see in the normal chat log (not the combat log) was a message like “Transfer Aborted: Instance not found” alongside leaving the chat channel of one zone but not joining the chat channel of the new zone I was entering.
It didn’t always kill me. That depended on how high or low the flight path traveled during the crossing. Sometimes I landed in patches of mountains that it is otherwise impossible to get to.
To clarify - the internet connection was fine, no latency showing, but the router would suddenly choke on data downloads and so the game would fail to have the new zone loaded as expected.
Here, OP I hope this helps. (Slightly different than your issue, but probably the same reasons. Some good answers in the thread). Let us know if you resolve your issue!
